Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back! Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY!
Now you are up what do you think the plans squad wise will be bring in lots of new players or bring a few in and keep a good balance?
I would have said that the club would have gone with the core of the younger members of our squad and a couple of the older pros. Then, adding to that, some good Aussies/Kiwis and plenty of good English players from current Super League clubs.

Numbers at games what is your average att now and how much can you see it growing by?
We are getting around 3,000 – 3500 at the moment. That should grow to the 7,000 or so we used to get when we were last in Super League. The club is putting in a lot of effort to attract support from Cheshire, Wirral and South Liverpool, too. In the past we have neglected to do this, for some reason, but this could see us hitting the 10,000 mark with a few years. Of course, we would need to be competing well in SL for that to happen.

Youth system can you expand the youth system and bring through more home grown players?
The only thing we need, to expand the academies, are under 20’s. We already have the rest. We already have some very promising youngsters coming through and have developed a relationship with the Brisbane Broncos, who currently have one of our young props (Anthony Mullally) in their under 20’s NYC team.
I can tell you now, that this is no flash in the pan for the club. SOC see’s this as one of the most important areas of the clubs future. Many of these youngsters will get their chance.

Looking forward to 2012 and having you at our place
And vice versa. Going to places like Wigan and having them come to us, is the reason fans want to be in Super League.

Thanks for the answers
Your attendence you will be hitting the 7k mark with teams like qunis, catalan and crusaders but you have got us,wire and saints which no doubt will sell out
I want to say this and dont take offence but your first season will just be a building block imo get your squad sorted out and you can make changes where they need to be changed if you finish around the 10th spot you should consider that a good season, playoffs an awesome season
Forgot to ask in my op what is the cap your on now?

Thankyou and to be honest i am just happy to be playing big clubs like Wigan,Wire,Saints,Leeds,Hull, etc as these teams should bring good away support.I know i would love my team to be in the Top6, but 8th can be realistic if recruit well.

Yeah it could happen and like you said all of you are happy to be back up
If i was your coach i would give some of the young lads for the future quite abit of game time this season get there confidence up for next season, would you all take a nothing year to build on next season?
Be interesting how the season goes as a few players wont be at Widnes next year, as they are nowhere near good enough.I would love to see some of our youngsters get a chance like Alex Brown,Grant Gore,Jack Owens,Tom Gilmore and others who may improve.Mullaley will be a good player after his stint with Brisbane Broncos.

I think our attendances will average 7,000, but some will be less than that number and some will be higher. Widnes v Catalans or Harlequins will probably be nearer 5,000. Widnes v Warrington will be a likely sell out.
You’re right. I don’t expect Widnes to be pulling up trees in their first season back in SL. We’ll probably be scrapping it out down the bottom end for a season or two. After that, we will be able to assess who is deadwood and who is making a go of it in SL, as some 2 year contracts will be up by then.
The salary cap is currently at £300k in the Championship. We are probably the only club which may be able to go up to £400k, due to hitting the £1million turnover target (in fact our turnover was £2Million). I don’t think that we have spent up to it though. I think we were in a strange position of trying to pick up players on one year contracts and getting rid of players who’s contracts were coming to an end, last season, in order to clear the decks for a brand new team in 2012.
SOC has said publicly that we will not be there just to make up the numbers, and will be spending to the full cap next season.

Look at what Crusaders accomplished in no time at all. Who in you current team can make the step up.

They had the ability to recruit from the most talented pool of players in the world, and fill their team with them. We won’t have that and I don’t want it anyway. It will probably take us a little longer than the Crusaders as a result.
