Hello again from the editor of Leigh's matchday magazine - 'The Centurion'. There's certainly plenty in the magazine for a Widnes fan this time! This one has tested the editorial staff somewhat, playing Widnes again so soon! There was a huge temptation to just re-print last time’s programme, but I was persuaded how discerning you lot are, and someone would have spotted it, for sure! So, this time: -
CEO ALLAN ROWLEY congratulates the Vikings on gaining their SL licence and tells Leythers how they can play their part in drumming up support.
In the Visitors’ page DAVE PARKINSON looks back on Leigh v Widnes NRC Games, and ALAN EDGE reports on the ‘Agony & Ecstasy’ of a week in the life of Widnes Vikings, as seen by Denis Betts and Steve O’Connor
ROBBIE HUNTER-PAUL also offers his congratulations to the Vikings, and argues that they have now shown the way forward for clubs like Leigh.
IAN MILLWARD looks back to the comeback against Widnes, and forward to tonight’s game.
DAVE PARKINSON reports on the Widnes game, and Leigh’s own ‘Street of Origin’ encounter, between the Miners and Leigh East. He also presents his ‘Facts ‘N Stats’ update.
JAMES GORDON looks at the opposite side of Widnes’ ‘promotion’ – i.e. who will come down. He reaches a fascinating conclusion!
James’ ‘LoveRL’ colleague, self-confessed Vikings’ fan TONY WILLIAMS has a swipe at those who suggest that Widnes’ elevation into SL was a ‘fix’.
GARETH WALKER, from ‘League Express’ looks at the credentials of two local Championship clubs, Leigh Centurions and Swinton Lions.
There are excellent action photos of the last Widnes game from MAURICE JONES and WAYNE KEEGAN.
ALAN EDGE also congratulates the Vikings (well, everyone else is doing it!) and welcomes them to LSV for the final time – again! He also peers out from under his flat cap, at the cost of Saints’ move to Widnes, the impact of penalties, and a case of mistaken identity.
All this, plus the usual squad information, LISA news, the Safety Bulletin and information from the Club’s Lottery, Commercial, and Community departments, for just £2.50.
