If reports are to be believed, this is the new contract, potential gamechanger for all teams. Personally, I'd like to see a lot more pumped in to the teams outside the top flight, stablise a sinking ship down here. Still, could be more money floating about!

When you work it out it's about 100k per year per SL club (if only goes to them) considering only 4/5 sides spend full cap can't see it making much difference at all.

It's 90mil over 5 years not per year so all the SL players teething about possible cap rises and mega structure changes are just being very naive and seeing just the £90million figure.

Could this be just enough money to make SL a 15 team competition and see Wakefield remain in place for another three years. I would rather see the league expand than see £100k given to the clubs which would most probably make very little overall difference.

That is of course assuming that the RFL aren't handing the extra money over to the Championship clubs who need it most.

I'd say the opposite! Clubs need the money to stay solvent. 2 SL sides into admin last year an extra 100k could make a big difference. An extra club would mean in 7 years clubs SKY income wouldn't have increased at all which would put us at a major disadvantage.

Championship deal is being negotiated separately so hopefully they will secure a big rise going directly to championship clubs.

Don't think a 15 team league is viable myself. I'm with Dalton, more cash to be set aside by the RFL to the Championships, who provide Sky with great Thursday evening programming during the summer anyway.

Would £100k really make that much of a difference though?
Admittedly it's extra money in the pocket but an extra game would also increase the revenue with gate receipts, match programmes, concessions etc. especially considering as the league would now have ourselves and Wakey in there who would bring a decent enough of a following. I have no idea whether a game would generate anywhere as much as £100k but I think the money it would generate plus the benefits to the competition as a whole would be more worthwhile.

There are certainly issues around 15 teams such as Millenium Magic etc but I'll leave the RFL to work those kinks out, they are at the very least innovative (maybe play the WCC on the same weekend as the main weekend game??)

Does it cause that much of a headache other than to the fans of the team not having a game that particular weekend?

Easily rectifiable the team that plays in WCC doesn't feature at MM.

My personal views on not 'saving' a club are based more on licencining principles as much as financial virgin anyway. Only 2 sides (us & Cas) met minimum Champ standards. But A LOT more IMO will fail SL minimum standards and lesson needs to be learnt. If you booted say Wakey it would give a huge kick up the booty to the likes of Cas & Salford... Maybe even Cru & Quins & Bulls / KR?

Quite obviously the education standards have slipped in Widnes , it seems they are incapable of simple mathematics

Can somebody explain it to them please , Dalton , surely you can enlighten them
