That was awkward. Hunslet have a habit of making us work hard. Sounds to me though that we were punished twice for incorrect play the ball? Why on earth are referees so selective with some of these rules? Week after week we see players not playing the ball technically correctly. If you're going to start punishing it, do it every time, and be prepared for matches dominated by the whistle.

That said, I wasn't there, so I don't have the full picture of the match. It sounds like we had a lot of possession and couldn't take advantage, and Hunslet kept on bringing it.

Hunslet have the worst fans I have come across, scouse this scouse that and bad language across every sentence, and this in front of kids. Not at all grateful for the 700 fans we took.

as for the game a poor widnes performance but we won, macgraff for mom for me closely followed by Kurt haggerty.

i do enjoy how everyone outside of widnes throws 'scouse' at us like its actually an insult. firsly, its not an insult anyway, and secondly, even if it was it doesnt apply to us. most seem too 'special' to get their heads around it.
never had any trouble at hunslet in years gone by, it must have gone down hill.

Below the boxes on the lower tier there was a Hunslet family in the middle of the Widnes speccies and they were annoying everybody around them, not swearing but just didn't shut up throughout the entire game going on about how we're going to get battered in SL with "the team we have". Credit to our fans, from the 1100 there i reckon 700/800 where from Widnes which was very encouraging. Doesn't bold well for their crowds when the likes of Widnes arent there.

Now for the game. Very tricky and awkward. Their goal line defence is one of the best in the league and they shut us out like they did earlier on in the year at the Stobart. Too many mistakes on our behalf and i thought Tommy Coyle had a shocker.

My MOM
1:Leuluai - think he keeps improving week in, week out.
2: Danny Hulme - very threatening again
3: Tomkins - controlled the ball well from dummy half.

Glad to see we never threw the towel in after being behind in the match most of the game but we did very well to get the try at the end. However, alot of work is still needed.

Tight win today but it's three points in the bag for you. You'd have lost that last year. You are becoming dark horseys for' t' grand final. Would be a fitting send off.

the backs played well got us out of are half well the left side defended very solid but the forwards need a big wake up call discipline and ball control was auwful

We would have lost that game eight weeks ago nevermind.No doubt about it we are a much improved side but our recent opponents have been no great shakes to be honest.I look forward to our games against Leigh,Featherstone and even Fax which will give a more accurate picture of where we are and if we are up to speed.
