Hi lads just to say well done against saints as you made it a good game to watch for the neutral and never gave up. Just one point though I thought as soon as you scored you should have refused the kick as you can as it costs you about
30 seconds which would have been two more tackles. Plus also twice ref made same mistake. If the defender knocks down a pass trying to intercept and another defender picks it up in an offside position then the attacking team is not allowed the full advantage this is a penalty according to rules. Saints do this on last play of game as Widnes player offloads and saints player gets a hand but the saints player who drops on it is even more towards the saints line thus in a offside position. Kick would have 40 metres which Ah van may have squared the match.

Same for the saints try before the half seemed like a nail on obstruction the saints player even looked over his shoulder to make sure he would impeed the widnes man, from making the tackle which i think was number 5 and the widnes team could have re-organised and stopped the try being scored or at least booted the ball 30 metres down field from the penalty

A good point about refusing the conversion, I seem to recall Wally Lewis doing this in an Origin match mid-eighties and we tend not to see it, even if the conversion will still leave them 2 points adrift.

I wonder how many players actually know that the conversion is an option?

Interesting point and probably would have gave us a few more tackles / time to set up. Though I guess initial thoughts would have been just get the points on the board asap.

To me it looked as if Lloyd White was suggesting either that or even taking the re-introduced drop goal option?

Think we did it against a team either last year or the season before. The offside rule i am correct on and clearly on both occasions saints knock the ball down and the saints person regathering is offside.

Plus... could you imagine the backlash from fans and reporters if Ah Van refused to convert and Widnes still lost the game.
Like I said in another post, it was a great game to watch and Widnes walked away with their heads held high
