All we can ever do...................... : Sun May 27, 2012 8:45 am
I have followed widnes since i was old enough to walk, through thick and thin, poop and glory. I am just as upset as anyone when we take hammerings like we did yesterday, i am just as frustrated as anyone with steve O'connor seemingly missing the increasingly obvious fact that dennis betts (with all due respect to the man) is not upto task. However, we all knew this was going to be a slog, the rfl shafted us twice, we took it on the chin and took adminstration on the chin, and here we are now in Superleague 7 years later after all that. fact is, we as a club and as a group just dont die very easily. I was drunk yesterday, and no doubt overly emotional as a result, however i would like to say to all those widnes fans who kept on singing their hearts out till the end yesterday (and it was the vast majority of you) you brought a tear or two to my eyes, i am proud to share a team with you all. thats is truly the best i have ever felt in all my years watching widnes, despite the drubbing on the field. you did yourselves and our team much honour yesterday.
the signing of kevin brown is cause for hope. the club is moving in the right direction. better players attract better players, and as i already said, O'connor is no fool. He wont put up with poop forever. I reckon if we dont see improvement in the remainder of this season then betts will be gone by next season. we have the core of a team already, quality players like Flynn, Phelps, Briscoe and Marsh, along with Craven, Goore, Gerrard etc also ben davies and pickers who have both been machines lately. Even Ben Cross can be a true battering ram when he keep his cool.
All we can ever do is keep on cheering, keep on singing. I for one will never stop, nor should any of you.
Only vikings who die in battle go to valhalla.
