O/T Going Loko : Tue May 19, 2009 6:40 pm
Moorends-Thorne Marauders will be preparing to go Loko this Saturday when they engage their second top of the table clash in as many weeks ! This week the Marauders will be entertaining North Yorkshire based rivals York Lokomotive on the Miners Welfare ground, Moorends.
Doncaster based Marauders have surprised themselves by climbing to the top of the Rugby League Conference Yorkshire Premier division after losing so many of last seasons National championship winning squad to the Dons this season, A club spokesman said I suppose we don’t have the same all round talent depth in the side as last year but the guys who have stayed are the Marauders who want to play for the club! At the moment the new guys and last seasons merit players are fitting in well and all to a man are playing with a big smile on their faces.
Training is going well with Mark Roach and Howard Roberts working well together in the coaching department and the last two results are testimony that the lads are listening to what’s being delivered at training.
Every game so far this season has been like stepping into the unknown with everyone beating each other in what is looking like a very close division, this is making it difficult to try and calculate who are the main contenders and the also rans.
This weekends game should be an open fast flowing affair with the Loko;s boasting a squad with a wealth of National Conference talent and the Marauders will hopefully be strengthened with the return of Dean Armstrong, Matty Bingley, Greg Mills and Steve Allen who all missed last week with work commitments.
