War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Thank God I'm an atheist.

What if the Dons did go bust? : Mon Jun 22, 2009 6:48 pm
Suppose we did go bust and RL was finished in Donny just as it was in Mansfield?
What would you do to replace it?
Would you perhaps go and watch Cas or Leeds or some other team?
(it is possible to switch allegiance....I mean you wouldn't have to feel guilty...since there is no Donny side)
Would you be satisfied with just watching Sky rugby?
Would you watch a local amateur side ?
Or would you perhaps wash your hands of rugby altogether?

I think I would just not watch anybody and just watch what Sky dish up.....I'd miss it though.
The best kind of RL is when you can walk to the ground and have a drink unfettered by a car.....that's why Tattersfield was so good....for me.

Your go.....think on ....it may become a reality.

Personally, I might take in the occasional game elsewhere assuming I could get there by train and have a few real ales en-route.
I would not follow another side.

Possibly.

Stand-Offish wrote:

Likely.

Stand-Offish wrote:

Doubtful.

Hence the train and real ale option might work.

Let's hope not. COYD.

Theres a good train service to Wakefield, some fantastic pubs on Westgate as you walk to the ground (half hour walk) AND we've got plenty of room on the terrace for you to stand with loads of fresh air to invigorate you and enhance your match day experience. You'll be more than welcome, along with the missing Wakey fans!

All the best to you - as a Donny lad I used to walk through town, over North Bridge (what was that pub called just over the bridge on the Bentley side? Bay horse?) back in the late 60s early 70s to Tattersfield - not exactly glory days, mind!!

I threw the towel in some time ago - not particularly with the Dons but with the game itself. Badly managed by self interested super league clubs; boring; predictable; monotonous; shorn of many of the skills that rugby league players used to show; summer rugby; franchises; bad referees etc etc etc. Why bother supporting anyone and donating money to a game where you are not wanted! RLHQ/SKY rule supreme! Sad but there it is.

Not having a pop, but we played Wakey in a pre-season friendly and got off the train at Sandal and Agbrigg. There was supposed to be a pub half way down the road - it was closed (to the surprise of even the Wakey fans who had also got off the train). The bar over the road from the ground was guess what - yep closed. It didn't feel that welcoming.

Fortunately afterwards, we headed into Wakefield where as you say there are a number of good pubs (Henry Boons and Harry's Bar are always worth a visit).

I'm wondering if the pub you refer to is the Three Horse Shoes?

Also thanks for the good wishes.

Have a bit of optimism lads!!! It wont go tits up, the fans will save the day!!

If it did though theres no way i would give RL up.Once your a League fan you'll always be a League fan.Thats why its called the greatest game!!

I wouldnt support another team though.I would just go and watch matches that took my fancy be it amateur or SL.Also you cant beat those Australia trips to watch either NRL or the Lions.Brilliant holidays and im already saving for next years!

Say what you mean and mean what you say because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

Astons ploy to import the Donny team not working then on the supporters.Me neither.
