Barrow team news ...
THERE will be some welcome returns to a bolstered Barrow Raiders squad when they head to Doncaster on Sunday.
Steve McCormack’s side make the trip to the Keepmoat for their Northern Rail Cup opener with James Coyle, Liam Harrison and Jamie Rooney all back in contention for a place. Coyle underwent a groin operation during the close season, while Harrison and Rooney both missed Sunday’s win over Huddersfield after feeling twinges in the warm-up and training respectively. But all three should be available for Sunday, with the news on hooker Andy Henderson also positive after he was carried from the field with an ankle problem against the Giants. McCormack said: “Jamie Rooney has really responded to treatment and Liam Harrison is having intensive physio on his hamstring and we should know more at the end of the week. There’s nothing serious there. “James Coyle will be available, he has worked his rehab really well and he has had the go-ahead from the surgeons to play. “We have picked up a few little knocks and bruises, as you would expect playing two games in a week. “We’re pretty hopeful Hendo will be fit for the weekend and he should be training today and Friday.” Rob Roberts has also restarted training this week after his back injury, though he will require a couple more weeks before he can feature. Martin Ostler and Jamie Butler have both upped their training too and should return in a couple of weeks.
