Dons v Thornhill Sunday 30th January 3pm : Fri Jan 28, 2022 11:51 am
I felt quite sad sitting at the Cas game last Sunday seeing a crowd of about 1500 with perhaps only 300 to 400 maximum from Donny. The Cas fans travelled in numbers to see their team play a side two divisions below them. Are the people of Donny out of love with rugby because we've been stuck in this league for too long with the Five Year Plan to get to Super League not achieved, or is there never going to be a decent fanbase in the town?
I hope it's a chicken and egg situation and that if we do become successful the people of Donny will get behind the club.
I sincerely hope the Dons fans outnumber the Thornhill fans by a considerable margin this weekend or else Sunday will be another sad day.
I imagine that on the field, providing we play like we did in the second half last Sunday, we shouldn't be victims of a cup upset. We have creative players aplenty and that should be good enough to see us home.
My general concern is similar to those I've had for the last four or five years, we don't seem to have enough size in the front row to really overpower teams. There seems to be a lot of responsibilty on Zac this season. He had a really good game last week but he won't be able to do everything on his own.
I hope the prop Jordan Seaman from Bentley gets another chance as he worked hard and ran enthusiastically.
Who's going on Sunday?
