Dons v London Skolars Sunday 21st May 2023 at 3pm : Tue May 16, 2023 4:40 pm
The Dons take on the bottom side in a game that must provide a good opportunity to boost our points difference. After last weekend's defeat, where do we stand? Do we think Dewsbury are going to win the league and we're in a race for second or can we realistically catch them?
Dews: 8 16 +247
Dons: 7 12 +88
Oldh: 6 10 +124
Huns: 6 8 +136
Work: 7 8 -14
Roch: 7 6 -73
Midl: 6 4 -48
Corn: 6 1 -173
NWal: 6 0 -78
Lond: 7 0 -209
Other weekend games: Rochdale v Cornwall; Hunslet v Workington; Midlands v N Wales and Oldham v Dewsbury.
So, do we want Dewsbury to beat Oldham to keep Oldham nicely beneath us or do we want Oldham to win as that means we'd have a better chance of catching Dewsbury?
As much as promition is our aim, I think winning the league is really important. You know four weeks sooner that you're going up which means you can get in the transfer market to sign players earlier. Having to wait until after the play-off final means you've less options as more players will already be under contracts at that point.
Our points difference isn't very clever at the moment. I'd like to see us win by at least 50 this weekend - staying focussed for the full 80 minutes - giving nothing away and settling for nothing less than a demolition job!
I wouldn't mind Workington beating Hunslet as I see Hunslet as much more of a threat than Workington. Hunslet only lost 12-6 at Dewsbury recently.
