The simple nuts and bolts of it were this:
Gateshead had 4 players suspended and 12 others unavailable out of their 33 man squad (source - Thunder website).
They did however bring a squad of 17 althoughit was obvious there were a lot of younger players in there.
We simply went about the job in an efficient and professional manner. The only slack spot being after we went 12-0 up when a bit too much basketball was played for a few minutes and a couple of handling errors made.
Once we got back to the gameplan it was pretty much one way traffic. The Gateshead side couldn't cope with our speed both of foot and passing, and our movement off the ball.
HOWEVER, it must be said that they never chucked the towel in and on the odd occasion when they did get possession, they did OK (although 3 or 4 lost balls early in the tackle count hurt them). The lad on the wing (29, Atkinson) caused us a few problems when he did see the ball, returning kicks particularly well. They got a rousing ovation at the end and had the good grace to return the applause, which took some balls after being on the receiving end of such a shallacking.
It'll no doubt have sent a few running for the record books today. I suspect it may well be the highest score/margin for a league match as most other scores of 100+ have usually taken place in cup ties.
EDIT - it is indeed a record score and margin for a league game, comfortably surpassing Keighley's 104-4 victory over Highfield in the mid 90's.
