First off, I really hope Rovers can stay up. I like to see you get beat but when all is said and done, we’re both stronger with each other in the super league. That said, I’ll get back on topic. I actually would like to see the size comparison with other packs. I don’t think rovers lack size so much as they lack quality and a decent game plan. Some of rovers forwards are just second rate.
Tony Smith’s ‘throw it around and hope for the best’ is just not good. You score some good try’s but you won’t win anything with that game plan.
We’ll win the odd game here or there, when we have a really good day and our opponents have an off day, but nowhere near enough. On the other hand, we’ve got nowt else on which to hang a game plan.
It isn’t just size on paper, it is injuries and aggression. Tbf, I guess back in January Smith hoped Masoe, Garbutt would help pull some of the rest along. However, we started the season as favourites for relegation for a reason and Smith said he didn’t know how good the squad was.
The brief hope that we might have stumbled across something after the Wigan and Saints game has flickered out. You never know, we might turn over Salford if they’re distracted by the prospect of their cup final appearance but that’ll be a blip - we’re far enough in to recognise the norm now.
Ahhh well, it is only a game.
