I know everyone slags off McCarthy but if we had him in the MPG we would have won it. Last season we missed his leadership skills on the pitch. I agree he is no world beater but he brings more to the team than say Clarkson for instance.

hell you could of kept clarkson on the pitch in the mpg for me! Would of taken Tyrone over Horne though least he wouldn't of missed a bucketful of tackles at the death.... |

A good friend of mine over at Swinton Lions has text to say Chris Atkins will be joining Rovers for the remainder of this season, and not from 2018. Apparently a fee is involved and it has fended off late interest from Wigan.
This makes sense with a question mark over Abdull and Sheens post match comment about Addy being a 2nd row.
Re Masoe, I'm told the deal is too complex to organise due to visa clearance and 'insurance' cover. Mind you with Smithy on the case you never know.

How can an early move to us fend off a late interest from Wigan. He signed for two years from 2018. Surely Wigan was not interested in signing him for the super eights prior to his move to us. |

I queried this and the quote comes from the clubs CEO to my friend. Just a thought, are future contracts agreed in principle and then signed after a period of grace?

Pause for thought. If Masoe does arrive for the 8s what restrictions will Saints place on Rovers over availability for selection. For example, contracted players will play 'patched-up', as the saying goes, will Saints allow this?
Looking at Masoe's recent injury CV it is a massive gamble for Rovers to take and it could prove costly if Masoe suffers an injury whilst playing for Rovers when patched-up. I suppose it beggars the question, what is the definition of patched-up.

I guess we can adopt a bit of a cut throats stance on him, he does a job for us, hopefully helps us get promoted then his physical well being is non of our concern come next season... I don't think I would want him permanently with his injury record of late.
