I think there are far too many people venting with knee jerk reactions to what was a disappointing Easter weekend.
Did anyone really expect to beat Hull before the game kicked off? The manner in how the team failed to make the numerical advantage count to secure an unexpected win was the start of the negativity.
Did anyone expect the team to get the points away at Wigan? The shoddy show was lacking in the effort that even in defeat we’ve come to expect from a Tim Sheens team. Should he have rotated the squad much more? The performance suggests he should have, the result would probably have been the same and many would be fresher for Widnes; but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
The biggest lesson learnt imo: Atkin is a great prospect BUT is not ready to be the dominant half back at SL level. Sign another Lui type half back and let Atkin cover when the inevitable injuries occur. He needs a couple more seasons experience at this level yet.
