not a lot in the game baring a couple of presents for wire which they took, although to be fair to atkin he did engineer 2 scores at the other end,,austin appeared to apply pressure to tomkins head with bodyweight with a flop, another angle may prove or disprove his intent it certainly put paid to his afternoon whatever ,we are going in the right direction at the moment and are far more competitive than previous years, the gap is closing slightly ,wire were not brilliant on the day and found it tougher than they expected i assume
Rovers pack were a good match with ours - thought Garbutt made a number of very good carries. McGuire and Drinkwater's kicking game made us start a lot of sets near our own line.
It wasn't a high quality game given the windy conditions (which may have given rise to Austin's pass looking forward when initially it's going backwards), and there were some soft tries conceded by both teams. Cannot comment on Austins tackle (it's not a flop as Hughes doesn't complete a tackle), as I couldn't see any contact with the head from where I was in the south stand. Also the footage on Sky doesn't show any contact with the head either, but I'm not suggesting he's innocent, or not, as I just cannot tell. Happy to get 2 points with an off key performance. Thought the ref slowed the game down by not being ready for some reason or another, when the attacking team wants to get on with it after a break in play.
Only two games in and still plenty to play for.
