I've been a Rovers supporter since 1973 when age 7, barely missing a home game since, so have seen a few highs and lows.

I must admit I haven't travelled to many away matches for about 20 years but the chance of Rovers being top of the league on Friday night means that it's a match I can't miss- has anyone looked in the history books to note the last time we topped the league - probably not since we were champs in 1985 I'm guessing but perhaps I'm mistaken? I'm looking forward to my first visit to the JJB (or is the the Dave Whelan stadium now?)- where's the place to park? :-)

I too have always had a soft-spot for Wigan fans ..... how many remember that Charity Shield weekend in the Isle of Man (was that 1985?)? It was a good weekend- I guess that Rovers were at their peak then (before a rapid decline) and Wigan were an emerging force.

My gut instinct says that as a team we have some great individuals but there are still enough technical deficiencies in certain players (positional sense and tackling technique in particular) that means we won't maintain 2nd spot (or higher!) but the effort and commitment are excellent and that counts for a heck of a lot in the big matches.

It's a great achievement to be where we currently are - onwards and upwards!

Erm....Yeah after 5 games of our first Superleague season actually  the night we beat Leeds.

Admittedly this was only for 1 night as it probably will be this weekend should we beat Wigan

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

I remember that weekend very well, we were in the Grasmere Hotel, which was about halfway along the sea front, we had a ball with all the Wigan fans.
We were the Rovers fans wearing the grass hula skirts and had a huge George cross flag with Hull Kingston Rovers emroidered accross the middle, boy what a weekend!!, does anyone remember that huge disco with a dance floor which apparently was the size of a football pitch, the noise in there that night with all the Wigan and KR fans singing was something i shall remember for ever.
