According to your coach the ref was an important factor.

Again.

Is that every loss he's blamed on the ref now?

Hull KR head coach Craig Sandercock on a decision by referee Robert Hicks:
"It's a big call for the referee to make at the end allowing our player to be lifted off the ground into the in-goal area because my interpretation of the rules are that once a player is on the deck once a hand is placed on him that constitutes a tackle.
"I need to have a look at that again because that young referee has changed the course of the game and I just hope he has got that decision right. If he hasn't he has cost me two points and I expect the full consequence of that decision to be placed on the referee if he has got it wrong.
"To defend our line like that in the last 10 minutes repeatedly was a good effort, but unfortunately it was not enough in the end. In the first half we were guilty of too many unforced errors.
"We looked good in attack, but we didn't pay Castleford's defence enough respect. To Castleford's credit they came back at us and Rangi Chase was too good for us tonight."

After readin that I'm not sure whether Sandy should take the flack here. Well worded and gracious at the end.

Dont expect us to win the league, but if we are spending near the cap would think we should not be struggling to make the playoffs, would have took Brian Noble in a heartbeat at least we would be better organised instead of gambling on a coach who was coaching junors until 2 or 3 years ago.

Wigan, Saints, Wire, Leeds are the current big 4. Catalans are strong and both Hull and Hudds have been willing to pay fees for players. That leaves only 1 spot free in the 8. I'd like to think we'd lead the hunt for it, but it isn't a gimme.

I agree that Sandercock needs to lay off the refs - they're plop but it'll even up over time (excepting maybe against the top teams). But his inexperience doesn't worry me overly, other assistants have come from the NRL and done well. He's had a bumpy time of it, but it's early days.

Who are the players rumoured to leaving/coming in for 2013 then?

No idea but I'll have a guess.

1) Ben Galea (retiring)
2) Jake Webster (Return to Aus)
3) Jason Netherton
4) Sam Latus
5) Scott Wheeldon
6) Scott Murrell
7) Joel Clinton (Return to Aus)
8) Liam Watts

TBF i think hudds only paid a big fee for danny brough. The likes of brown, robinson, mason went to them when they were out of contract at other clubs, they do seem to be able to attract other clubs best juniors to join them,so it doesnt take a fortune to improve just some better talent spotting/scouting.

I wouldn't be too downbeat about tonight's result in a sense. You played very well in patches and scored some good tries. The only point I'd make is that you're too reliant on Mika. The big guy was taking it up twice every set pretty much and by the end of the game he was totally cooked.

Caught Sandy's radio interview - his referee deflector shield is starting to grate.
I'm no Hicks fan but I certainly don't think he was the difference. One of two things go for and against teams each and every week. The Salter tackled/voluntary tackle looked alright IMO. Salter got down to try and avoid a drop out, no Cas player attempted to tackle him - Hicks clearly told him to get up, he then makes some attempt to get up - Cas lift/force him back for a drop out. Best case (at that moment) was a drop out, another referee would've give a penalty for a voluntary tackle. Win some lose some. We failed to defend the resulting drop out. Sandy never mentioned our try before half time being clearly forward or our failure to shut out/build on going 10pts in front in the 2nd half. We need to sort our own reoccurring problems out, instead of putting them @ the officials door.

Fair play to Cas, they have good options - but our reoccurring fragility is worrying.

That's our season
Good in patches, polar opposite in others.

Sadly, our good patches more often have expired after an hour this season

Good post, too easy to blame someone else, our defence is not good enough full stop, get it sorted mr sandercock rather than blaming/moaning about refs every week because it cant be putting us in a good light at the rfl.
