Our esteemed chairman’s first of all:

https://www.hullkr.co.uk/neil-hudgell-s ... er-league/

There were a few good moments along the way and I always feel like 1 win in 3 is just on the cusp of giving me some sort of tolerable return on my emotional investment.

I’d divide the season into three parts of decreasing length.

1. 5 wins from 16 under Sheens. I liked Sheens and he helped us get done what needed doing in ‘17 and ‘18, and for me that was huge. But by the end he seemed tired and out of answers.

2. The Tony Smith Bounce, with 4 wins from 8 games. He raised spirits and got the team playing close to it’s full potential (inconsistent, but good on their day, mid-table form), and was able to bring in some new players to patch up a somewhat threadbare squad.

3. Stumbling over the line with 1 win from our last 5. A reminder that our issues have been more deep seated than just needing somebody like Tony Smith on board.

While we do seem to choke when the pressure is on, I think the losing 6 games by 1 or 2 points (and I only count 5 on the list on the Sky website) does have to be balanced by acknowledging that we won 4 league games by those margins. So a bigger proportion of our wins were super close than the proportion of our defeats.
