Details for the County Championship Festival are now posted on the South West Rugby League site. All are welcome.
The 2011 season gets underway at 1:30pm Monday 2nd May with the County Championship Festival in Bristol. Teams representing Gloucestershire, Devon, Dorset & Somerset, Wiltshire, Cornwall and Hampshire will meet at Aretians RFC and battle to be named regional champions.
Encouraged by the success of the Devon vs Cornwall match - which made national news on the BBC and across the Rugby League press - the South West will use the May Bank Holiday weekend to launch its summer programme with a county event.
The format mirrors that of the regional tournament. Two groups of three teams play each other in a series of 20 minute games. After the three group games, the teams placed 3rd respectively will play each other, with 2nd vs 2nd taking place alongside. To close the Festival, 1st will play 1st to decide the overall champions.
The Festival promises to be an exciting afternoon of rugby league, acting as curtain raiser for the Rugby League Conference South West and West of England Divisions which kick off on the following weekend.
