Please see attached link from the YEP regarding Michael Stillwell. Michael played for Hunslet Warriors before he signed professional for Hunslet Hawks and we were all saddened to hear of the difficulties he was facing. Michael was a member of our very successful Under 18s team back in 2004/2005 and Warriors Chairman Los Baker along with all four Open Age teams felt that they wanted to help in any way they could. Los Baker said “ Whilst times are hard for a lot of people at present, I know that the Club along with the people of Hunslet will be as generous as always and dig deep to help this young man and contribute in any way they can”. As Michael played for our Under 18s team, it seemed only fitting that it should be our current Under 18s that kick off the fundraising and this will take place next Sunday at Warrior Park when Hunslet Warriors 18s will take on Hunslet Warriors ‘A’ Team. There will be a pitch collection and a raffle with all money raised donated to Michael. Our First team will then mirror this when they play their first league home game of the 2012 season on 17th March against Stanley Rangers. Please try and get down to either match and help us help this former Warrior who has been badly let down by our government. Anybody not able to attend games but would like to help, either leave me a post or send me a PM. |
