The money has come from new investors / sponsors who will be revealed over time (no secret). The real reason for the move to Newport was a pre-condition of the investors (not the condition of Brewery Field).
Clearly the help and guidance from the RFL will not hurt either and the appointment of Noble Sharp and (not plastic - REAL) Welshman Harris will help our rise from the bottom.
We are grateful of the assistance and support we have received from within SL and especially grateful to Featherstone for releasing Iestyn with their blessing (they had every right to be awkward if they wanted).
I think you would have to be a pretty determined ill-wisher to see us as anything other than a serious SL side now.
I don't think we'll be any danger to the top of the table for a few years yet, but if we can reach anywhere between 8-6 I'm pleased.
Sorry to the other championship sides who wanted us to fail, but I think you'll have to wait until the next round of franchises.
FWIW though scuttlebut I heard was that had we fallen through, Widnes were earmarked to replace us, so gotta think they are not far off a nailed on cert for a franchise next time (unless we get the North Wales team up and running .
