Windes have release just about everyone before they move up - very shortsighted - some good players there - Tangi come home we want you!!! :ROCKS:

There are some that are being kicked out that would give their all for the club - the club have at least three years to prove they are a worthy team to stay up - spend a fortune in year one and they might find the bucket has a bottom!

can only bode well for when we meet them on sunday....god knows how you motivate a team in those circumstances.....looks like a knee jerk reaction to me..very poor

On the other hand, players who play well have a better chance of earning a contract elsewhere.

It's not knee jerk has been decided over a full season. Any Widnes fan would say only Hulme (wants to stay part time for a year at least) and Varkulis should have been kept on.

Their are some good champ players leaving but unfortunately that's all they are. Sheffield are in a similar league spot to us, how many SL players would you take up?

Tangi unfortunately shot himself in the foot with a few shocking defensive performances early in the season and though improved never really grabbed back a SL place that at the start of the year he was probably pencilled in for.

Very fair assessment.

It's a very strange situation really.
What fevbornnbred makes sense however I agree with Griff in that there aren't many games left for the players that have been released to put themselves are the forefront in terms of the shop window. They are pro/semi pro sportsman so I'd imagine that the situation will be the latter. There is also the incentive of being paid if they were to progress through the rounds and even reach the final.

Personally, I think Widnes have been very fair to their players.

Telling them they won't be retained gives them a better chance of getting a new club.

If you know your out in plenty of time you can organise yourself a deal somewhere else. And there will be no shortage of takers (for the right wages) id expect.

The Sheffield Stir last night ran a piece about Tangi's possible return. Perosnally i do think we need another centre to back up Corey and Menzie, put the price has to be right. Now he's been in the shop window at Widnes, i expext there will be offers from club with bigger budgets.
