Kingstone Press Championship Round Sixteen Round Up
It was a sensational Round Sixteen in the Kingstone Prss Championship which got underway on Friday night when Sheffield Eagles made the short journey north the Batley to take on the Bulldogs.

Saturday evening saw Halifax go to Post Office Road to take on Featherstone Rovers in the evening kick-off but the real shocks came on Sunday.

Bradford Bulls hosted basement side Doncaster, Hunslet a Hawks went on the road to Whitehaven, and Dewsbury Rams hosted the other Cumbrian side Workington as they looked to go back two clear of fifth place. Leigh were looking to continue their immense unbeaten run at the much improved London Broncos.

Excellent results for the eagles with 7 games left we are well poised to finish in the top 4, 6 points clear with a far superior points difference to the majority of our rivals

Points Difference Average Points Difference Per Game Points For Points Against
Leigh 365 24.33 38.13 1st 13.80 2nd
Bradford 360 24 37.73 2nd 13.73 1st
Sheffield 153 9.56 25.87 3rd 16.31 3rd
Halifax 122 7.63 25.31 4th 17.68 5th
Dewsbury 51 3.19 20.62 7th 17.43 4th
Featherstone 24 1.60 24.80 5th 23.20 7th
London 13 0.87 22.67 6th 21.80 6th

It looks like we have an exciting end to the regular season Bradford v Leigh on 19th July looks like a winner takes all title decider, as long as we dont cock up the battle for 4th place is fascinating just 3 points seperate 4 teams London are playing some good rugby at the moment and have a favourable remaining schedule and Halifax with their win at Fev have but themselves back in the mix and there last 4 games are at home. With 2 teams relegated Doncaster look doomed still winless this season what has happened to them they were in the playoffs last season the remaining relegation place is interesting just 2 points seperate 4 teams

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

I may have this completely wrong but is the relegation NOT decided until after the Championship Shield - when the equivalent of the Middle 8/Qualifiers are played, which include some League 1 sides?

RFL info from last year

I was going to ask you to keep us updated with potential games should we finish in the top 4.

For example, would we play away or home to Catalan Dragons should they finish in a certain position in the bottom 4 and we finish in a certain position in the top 4?

There has been suggestions of a recent change where the side finishing top of The Championship have an extra home game than first planned.

If has been confirmed on the RFL website that Championship Winners will get an extra home game which is only fair because as it stood the runners up had a better schedule and relegation is confirmed after the Championship Shield fixtures however points are carried across so it still does not look good for Doncaster but they still have 14 games to try to turn things round but they lost the second half yesterday 54-0

Based on current standings we will play

Home Hull KR, Wakefield, Dewsbury(or Hal,Fax,Lon)
Away Widnes(or Catalan or Hull), Leigh, Bradford , Salford

It depends if you fancy a trip to France personally I hope that Catalan dont finish 4th bottom (if they finish 3rd or 2nd bottom we will play them at home). Looking at the current draw we could win 2 of our 3 home games so just 2 wins from the other 5 could see us in contention presumably teams level on points will be decided by points difference ????

Thanks duggs,
I knew I could rely on you. :thumb:

I had completely forgotten about the 'points being carried across' malarkey.

I'd best go and work on my bikini body just in case a trip to Perpignan,in holiday time, with a late booking,is necessary,(and possible).

Could I possibly rely on you further to bring the possible differing game scenarios,as the tables in Super League and Championship fluctuate each week, please?

You are correct - they carry on to a 30 game league table.
