2012 - It was the year everything changed!

Well it was hardly vintage but the record books will show a victory. If i was a Hunslet fan, id feel rather agreived at what was a very inconsistent ref display. Lots of errors, Hunslets first try was ridiculously offside and theres a fair shout of double movement for Corey's second try, amogst allsorts else. Poor.

We didnt play well lets be honest, but we stuck with it at the end. I cant help but wonder what would have happened if that drop goal hadnt hit the post. It was a 2003 deja vu moment.

Just one question, why didnt we use Menzie's power close to the line? I think he got the ball about three times all game, i cant help but feel that against a tiring defence his power would have made a difference.

Look how the game went south while Hendo was off, that guy really does make a massive difference.

Sheffield Eagles - Back to Back National Champions 2012 and 2013 !!

No wonder their crowds are so low. Hardly an entertaining style of and an attritional style of spectating.

Dr B has summed it all up.

Thanks to the groundsman who must have used Dulux extra thick instead of cheap B&Q paint when the posts were last done.

I'm sure there's an insult in there somewhere.

A failure point at Barrow and were in the six.

Sheffield Eagles - 2012 & 2013 Championship CHAMPIONS #backtoback

Rubbish. Most undeserved victory I can ever remember. If we play like that in the play-offs there won't even be any point in turning up. I wouldn't care if people labelled us a one man team, Menzie Yere is critically underused - FACT. I counted three times in the game that he touched the ball, and one of those was a run from dummy half. Every time we were 5/10 metres away from the line we switched to the right, and it WAS NOT WORKING. Yet we persisted with it for 80 mins, no wonder Aston went down to the touchline when we resorted to chanting "Pass it to Menzie!"

Corey Hanson was easily the man of the match, at times it appeared he was the only man that was bothered, a criticism I haven't often been able to level at Eagles players. Barring a screw up of monumental proportions we are in the play-offs and I just wonder if the players have used this as an excuse to take the foot off the gas so to speak. Hunslet's third try was pathetic, nothing short of pathetic, the way he just broke through our line like a knife through butter and Mitchell Stringer in particular just watched him do it was embarrassing. I'm not going to get on Mitch's back too much because he has been one of our most consistent performers over the last few seasons.

The referee was appalling, one of the worst I've seen, equally incompetent for both teams. We'll need to improve a hell of a lot if we're going to get anything at all from Barrow next week. No disrespect to Hunslet but they are a poor team at this standard and we shouldn't be struggling to beat them. They were the width of a post away from winning, if that drop goal had gone over they would've had the ball back with four minutes left and I think that would've been that. As it was we hit the post and went up the other end and scored, then they gave away a stupid penalty for dissent after another bizarre refereeing decision, which was actually in Hunslet's favour which made it even weirder that they said something to the referee.

Sorry for the essay but I'm just a little riled tonight!! However a win is a win.

All you can ask from a team is 100% effort, commitment, passion, there was Corey Hanson who did that a Sheffield lad whos been in and out off the team because of the so called better dual reg players,He deserves his shirt today and for future games as he was outstanding, also Peter Green, not everyones cup of tea but he tried his best,The rest truely awful lacking everything of the above, disinterested, clueless and no idea,Hunslet no better than an amateur team and we made them look average,The players need to have a long hard look at themselves as they were well below the standard that they can play,Extra training me thinks,If wed have lost theyd have deserved to be booed off,£14 for that it was dreadful,Not good enough and if they had played any other team in the league they would have lost,The so called big players need to stand up and be counted,Menzie why not use him,Hes destructive near the opposition line,A big improvement is needed.Simply not good enough.

The Halifax fans are going ape on their forum about Leahy. Well, as someone said earlier "welcome to our world".

I know Mr. Halloran from when I did a couple of interchanges in 2009. He's not a bad person, and he will know he's not had a good game. But to be making personal threats like I heard coming from the home end earlier is simply not on and doesn't achieve anything.

We know we didn't play well. Tubby knows we didn't play well. He will know what to do to put it right. Time to keep the faith.
