Rubbish. Most undeserved victory I can ever remember. If we play like that in the play-offs there won't even be any point in turning up. I wouldn't care if people labelled us a one man team, Menzie Yere is critically underused - FACT. I counted three times in the game that he touched the ball, and one of those was a run from dummy half. Every time we were 5/10 metres away from the line we switched to the right, and it WAS NOT WORKING. Yet we persisted with it for 80 mins, no wonder Aston went down to the touchline when we resorted to chanting "Pass it to Menzie!"
Corey Hanson was easily the man of the match, at times it appeared he was the only man that was bothered, a criticism I haven't often been able to level at Eagles players. Barring a screw up of monumental proportions we are in the play-offs and I just wonder if the players have used this as an excuse to take the foot off the gas so to speak. Hunslet's third try was pathetic, nothing short of pathetic, the way he just broke through our line like a knife through butter and Mitchell Stringer in particular just watched him do it was embarrassing. I'm not going to get on Mitch's back too much because he has been one of our most consistent performers over the last few seasons.
The referee was appalling, one of the worst I've seen, equally incompetent for both teams. We'll need to improve a hell of a lot if we're going to get anything at all from Barrow next week. No disrespect to Hunslet but they are a poor team at this standard and we shouldn't be struggling to beat them. They were the width of a post away from winning, if that drop goal had gone over they would've had the ball back with four minutes left and I think that would've been that. As it was we hit the post and went up the other end and scored, then they gave away a stupid penalty for dissent after another bizarre refereeing decision, which was actually in Hunslet's favour which made it even weirder that they said something to the referee.
Sorry for the essay but I'm just a little riled tonight!! However a win is a win.
