Slow-Starting Sheffield Hammer Hawks - http://wp.me/p3JxPK-xO

This was the game we needed to bounce back in, and we sure did that. A poor first half was pretty much saved by the two tries in the final ten minutes but we were never going to be stopped when we went all guns blazing during that second period. Rob Worrincy's interception try brought back some good memories from his last stint at the club, it was also nice to see a good mix of players get on the scoresheet including Tony Tonks. Menzie's four try performance means he's scored 150 for the club which is a great achievement.

Wow. After last weeks debacle, what a brilliant result. Just wish my aging (and aching) body cold have got me there, but no such luck.

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

Re: Game 15 - Hunslet Away : Sat May 30, 2015 9:17 am
I don't think anyone would have predicted that final scoreline at half-time.
I must credit the supporters-run Hunslet Hawks and hope they consolidate their Championship status.
Gives me the opportunity to thank the benefactors of Sheffield Eagles. :thumb:

This reminded me that the game is very much about momentum and confidence.

We cannot allow the ball to bounce in play and then go dead at Mount Pleasant and defend that many sets at the bottom of the slope - especially if the temperature is higher.

When Hunslet made the error at the start of the second half their confidence just drained - it helped that Jack Lee was missing as we piled on the points.

I hope Cory Aston recovers well from his head injury sustained early on - Did the referee stop play before there was a natural break in play?

A few decisions went against Hunslet - 2 when we scored tries - but they never made any issue of it.

Where our followers made their frustrations felt when Menzie added himself to the tackle to drag their player out of play/ into touch THIS IS THE INTERPRETATION/RULE

Interesting to see none of our tries scored as a result of kicks into the in-goal area.

I thought it was the best display from Keal Carlile since he joined. Is starting with JD the better option?

I hope the journey to and from Batley is better than the trip last night, courtesy of the road maintenance people.

Oh,to be in England now that summer is here... :WALL:

10-6 at half time - as I'm sure you're aware - even if it was courtesy of a last minute converted try. We didn't make many errors in either half and I didn't think the wind accounted for the difference in the two halves. I though Hunslet just defended better in the first half and made a real tough game of it.

I remember we were speaking pre-match about Carlile and had a slight disagreement about how effective he is compared to James Davey. Keal is the 'bread and butter' dummy-half but it was great to see him make more scoots forward than usual.

I would start Davey against Batley and keep Carlile on the interchange for the first 20 or so minutes.

Good interview by Rob Staton with Mark Aston about Friday's match and what happens now for the coach/director of rugby after such a good win - https://audioboom.com/boos/3235146-inte ... ce=twitter
