If certain inept and lacklustre individuals keep getting picked alongside players of genuine quality, how on earth does the club think it is going to hold on to its loyal fan base. Most of the fans will know the players I am referring to without me having to name them outright, but I will say Dane Mcdonald isn't one of them. Mark Aston must have his reasons for relying on these players to which I have my theories, but the rot as to stop now before their feeble performances manifests itself in the direction of the club. In these 'Malignant Times,' the club needs to remain on the front foot, we may have limited resources, but we are far from making the most of them. With the top four finishing championship clubs(presumably), qualifying to play in a tournament against the top four French for 2012 the club should be exuding motivation. If we don't make this exclusive clique, it will knock us back light years! Players with supposed experience, but nothing else, get the nod over players who would come on leaps and bounds if given the chance, one of which did a commendable stint against St Helens(and i've got to say if we hadn't started so cold, we could have turned them over, we were awesome!), so whats going on? The reserves is no yardstick for ascertaining the talents of a player, some may shine at that level, but others will need a taste of the first team before they will put their bodies on the line for one man and his dog.
I can genuinely say I have no idea about the players who you are referring to and I've barely missed a game over the last however many seasons. What I will say is that your comment about the club losing its loyal fanbase is probably wide of the mark, this is probably the best time in over ten years to be an Eagles fan. Whoever is out there on the pitch the club will be there long after they've gone and I, and I'm sure everyone else on here, will still be around to see it.
We may not have the biggest fan base, but the ones we have got are loyal and passionate, I should know, I am one of them.
As ESO says, our progress in recent years has been remarkable. It's just a shame that the clubs hard work is not being repaid by the Sheffield public, who continue to watch drivelous football.
I'm interested in who you class as inept. They're braver men than me. I see you point about McDonald, we know he's not a 6/7, the last two games he's been at loose forward and played much better.
Danny Mills is shocking and everybody knows it, his lack of passion and desire would put any amateur to shame.
Simon Brown against Featherstone threw a forward pass(by a mile), to a player standing no more than a couple of feet to the side of him on the second tackle ten yards from the line, that was shocking from a player that should be the brains behind the operation, criminal! This is when we had a genuine chance of getting back in the game against a team that i'd wager were having their poorest game for many a year. Why wasn't he dropped for at least one game? What message does this give to any aspiring players? Putting this incident to one side is distribution skills on a good day are at best ordinary, his kicking this year has been a let down on what we would have expected after the taster we got at the back end of last season and he brings absolutely nothing else to the table.
Alex Szostak only tackles those players that run straight at him, it's not as if he hasn't got speed, His second row partner shows him up for what he is, rubbish! The rest of his game lacks passion. I can count the good games he has had for us on one hand.
Danny's not had the best season granted, but we only have two wingers. Him and Bergin.
Simon did throw a bad pass yes, everyone makes mistakes, that's why pencils have rubbers on the end. Suppose we drop him? Who for exactly?
Alex puts in a lot of hard work and has done for seasons, you tackle the players in your zone because if you go off wandering it leaves a nice hole in your defence for a halfback to pass into. Basic coaching.

Wow you are either a very hard taskmaster or know absolutely nothing about RL. Understanding clearly isn't one of your traits!!
Steeleagle don't come on, join the board and write 3 posts of drivel.
Yes we are all entitled to our opinion which is a good thing about this forum but don't just have a dig at all the players, it's a good squad and yes they are under achieving somewhat at the moment but having a go at Brown for one bad pass & saying Alex is rubbish means you can't watch many games...

Right now I'm absolutely convinced you're a Donny fan/Dewsbury fan/some other sad bloke on the wind up. That is the biggest pile of nonsense I have ever read in my life.
Danny Mills I agree is not good enough.
Simon Brown has, along with Henderson and Rowe and maybe Menzie, been one of the stand out players for me this season. You're seriously suggesting we should drop him for one forward pass? Drop our main playmaker for one forward pass? If Tomkins or Sinfield threw a forward pass, do you think Wigan or Leeds would drop them? Course they wouldn't. And as far as his kicking game goes you clearly haven't seen much of us this year or you are just a complete numbskull. His kicking game has been by far and away our most potent weapon all season, the 40/20's, repeat sets and turning defences around has brought us so many points in games this season.
Alex Szostak is a solid performer, and is most certainly NOT rubbish. Rather than counting the amount of good games he's had on one hand, another quite ludicrous statement, you should try and count the amount of missed tackles he's had since joining us, because you can bet you'd be able to count those on one hand no problem. He puts his hand up and gives 100% every game, not afraid to put his head in where it hurts. How you've selected him for criticism is incredibly random and far beyond me.
You've obviously got some sort of hidden agenda, the team we've got on the field now is, when fully fit, arguably the best we've had since our re-birth, so it seems incredibly strange to me that you've suddenly decided to come on here and start saying we're being shortchanged and generally slagging them off. If you are another fan on the wind up trying to unsettle our players then go and do it on another forum.
