Something to do if you or a relative is now self isolating. : Fri Mar 27, 2020 9:36 pm
If you or one of your relatives is now self isolating and wondering what to do to pass the time, can I suggest something that is interesting, enjoyable, educational and cheap. It is to write a novel based on your own life and times. This is something that I started doing in 1988. It was inspired by three things: firstly my interest and knowledge of rugby league, its history and its many characters ,secondly my family tree going back to 1777 and the old saying about work that "They could write a book about this place. It would be best seller".
Based on my experiences gained while writing over half a million words in six novels in my Ashurst series, I have now written a couple of pages encouraging any other rugby league fan get started and do something based on their life. Contact me at wgeofflee@gmail.com and I'll send the two sheets to you. However you might prefer to read one of my novels first. If so can I suggest my sixth novel. It is called "Three Good Years" and is set during the 2006, 7 and 8 seasons against a background of Work, Family Life, Saving the NHS and Rugby League. It is available from the publisher London League Publications. Visit them at http://www.llpshop.co.uk and click on Books and then Fiction P.S. I don't know how much of a reader Dennis Betts is but I am sure he smile at the title of the first chapter. "The Jehovah's Widnes". |
