NORTHALLERTON STALLIONS - PLANNING AHEAD... : Tue Mar 24, 2009 8:25 am
“We want to establish the Stallions as an integral part of the region’s sporting and social scene”
When we set up Northallerton Stallions just over a year ago we made a firm commitment to create a club that was friendly, welcoming, and professionally organised. We further committed to building strong foundations by establishing s vibrant junior section, introducing local children to a sport widely recognised as developing important life skills such as respect, discipline, fitness and loyalty. In doing this we have an obligation to ensure that we have a safe, friendly and enjoyable environment that parents are happy to introduce their children into. This cannot be achieved overnight but we are already a long way towards creating such a junior section. In the last 12 months we have: · Qualified 4 level 1 & 2 level 2 coaches. (UKCC qualifications) · Received CRB clearance for all qualified coaches. · Opened dialogue with the local primary schools to establish a coaching programme. · Established links with the local Rugby League Development and Service area team. We are hoping to implement the schools coaching programme during May & June culminating with a mini festival. This will hopefully lead to schools playing Rugby League and also the establishment of the Stallions juniors. We are also looking to introduce more adults both to the club and the sport. We would welcome anyone who fancies having a go at Rugby League and absolutely NO experience is needed as our qualified coaching team will take new players through everything. With both juniors and seniors we will focus on core skill development as well as game awareness and of course core fitness. Players will learn in a relaxed & friendly environment and will have the benefit of the latest fitness, skills & technical drills to help their progress. Whatever their level of ambition – from social rugby to elite development – everyone will be appropriately catered for. Finally we are also looking to encourage off field involvement in the sport and welcome anyone who is interested in roles other than playing. Once again we will provide full support to any person wishing to take up an administrative role with the club. There are many opportunities in this area, as new clubs like ours are always in need of good volunteers.
