If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Frederick Douglas

Don't know the full ins and outs with him and Wigan but he looks to have hampered what could have been a great international career. He's let his progression stagnate for a couple of years when he should have kicked on and made a real mark. Players don't leave wigan, they're let go. If homesickness is the reason then he needs to give his head a bang and grow a pair. Short career and you really need to make the most of it and this move shouts big fish small pond syndrome.

Tbf, people want different things from life. And he's won one more Championship and Challenge Cup double than Rovers and Hull combined.

If it was a very good player and Rovers fan leaving Leeds or Wigan to come to Rovers, I'd be delighted at one of ours coming home to play for his club. Win a trophy for Wigan... Well that's your job. Win a trophy for a KuH club and you're pretty much a local ledgend.

Despite the silverware, he's not quite kicked on to deliver on some of the more optimistic predictions made in this thread three years ago. But he's still got time on his side and is a potentially excellent signing for Hull. Would have stung 3 years ago, but having known for that long...

I often look at this as if it was my son what would my advice be. Going to Wigan was a no brainer, win things and get more chance of national coverage than at HKR. If he was at Wigan and rovers asked for him back I'd tell him to not bother, stick at it where you are, move to Oz for a couple of years come back later in your career. Lets be honest neither us nor Hull are going to challenge for the top any time soon.

Is the homesick at Wigan thing a wind up?
