I would prefer to keep the memory of how great he was for us, not for him to diminish his history with the club in a second period here.

I've seen him play a lot this year - all but 3 games I think.
He is playing either lock for 50 or 60 minutes or second row for 70 or 80 minutes.
He is captain of the side and spends a fair bit of time yelling at the young guys "just one set" or "defend the error" or a few other things the word filter probably wouldn't allow.
I don't think he is going as hard as he could because he is getting the young blokes to work as hard as they can, but he is doing a solid job and he looks very fit.
I suspect he isn't training at a fulltime level because he has a community education job for the club as well, but he is still in the top 2 or 3 forwards in our NSW cup side at present.
I suspect he'd do a good job off the bench for you right now, and after a few weeks solid training, he could be fit enough to start.
His role in our side is senior player and motivator for the young guys, and he gets stuck into them when they slack off.
A few weeks ago there was a dodgy decision against us and all the young forwards were grumbling at the ref, and all I could hear from the sidelines was Newton screaming "concentrate, get in the scrum, defend the error - F... F... F... etc".

Talking of which (kind of), I've noticed recently that the Guardian's (online) RL coverage focuses heavily on the NRL rather than SL. I guess it is trying to position itself as a global, progressive English language news source, but it feels a bit odd that we're getting squeezed from all sides. Especially in a publication with its roots in the North.
