Well at least Rick understood what he saw ‘train wreck’ summed it up perfectly for me.

The interesting one was that he wasn’t expecting much from Jake Mamo which seems strange after all the statements about him been the X factor in our team and us wanting a good start this year in all the press pre season. Didn’t stop him after the last injury I seem to remember.

We aren’t going to see his best for a month?? Beggars belief, if the same applies to Symonds if he ever plays and Cudjoe we won’t be up to speed/our best until game 8/10 which is a tad worrying to say the least.

I always sorta got the slow and gradual improvement bit, but after a season and a half you would expect sound basic defensive structures even with four major players missing.

Ironically Lawrence was having his best day for a while before he got injured and if he’s out for a while we need a 2nd row who can defend and organise the right out wide because Hull worked out it as weak and exploited it to take the game away from us at a rate.

We need the 25 minutes that we played well in the first half to be the norm as another capitulation this week would not be good at all.

The jury’s out for me I really hope that we turn up on Thursday it would be nice to see the improvement Rick has promised not his oft touted ‘train wreck’

yes when players have been out with an injury they will take time to get back to the level they were at...match fitness etc

cudjoe will take a while to get back to his level,

symonds too if he ever does play again

was hoping we would have the squad ready for the start of 2018 but injuries crept in during pre season and my expectations have dropped... top 8 is the target again i feel, not top 4 as we havent had luck with the injuries once again

Hit our strides much better against Wire than we did against Hull and for the full 80. Hoping we continue to improve at the same rate and then we can hopefully be more comfortable in that top 8 and look to push higher. Need to ensure we are good at home and target to keep the JS a fortress that no team will relish coming to.
Wonder how much our lack of full contact pre season games had on our start - perhaps we are only just getting started as a result?
The performance against Wire should inspire confidence in the team and us fans and hoping for better to come. Felt there was a nervousness against Wire with pressure on the team to do better that they definitely achieved so onwards and upwards from here.
No one mentioned the +5K crowd either with few from Wire - thought that was decent given the Hull result and something for the club to build on.

nah just pointing out it goes quiet after a win. goes into meltdown after a loss. nature of a forum though! shame there cant be praise as much as slating...some leave because of it
