U19's v Cas postponed : Sat Jun 09, 2018 9:37 am
Todays U19 academy game v Cas at Orrell has been postponed as Cas can't raise a team?
From memory this is about the third time it has happened with them over the past few years. Last night v Wire they only had one academy aged player in the team.

 that's crazy you would expect something like this from an amateur club but not a professional one

To be honest, this perfectly underlines the problem British RL has today.

Genuine professionalism is an aspiration in the cases of several SL clubs, and in some it's not even that.

Is this a case of another club who chuck all their money at their first team and don't have a plan for future development?

Most idiotic post ever goes to Grimmy..... The way to restart should be an arm wrestle between a designated player from each side.

Within half an hour of Cas they have Hunslet Parkside, Normanton Knights, Castleford Lock Lane, Thornhill Trojans, Featherstone Lions, Oulton Raiders, Bradford Dudley Hill and Shaw Cross Sharks. All eight of those clubs are in the top two divisions of the NCL, which isn't that far off academy standard. Are you really telling me there aren't lads from those eight clubs who wouldn't have wanted to play for Castleford academy on trial? Ok the clubs might not have been pleased if you did that, but ultimately the players aren't under contract, and many clubs would be supportive of their young players getting a last chance at breaking into SL.
