I found it quite ironic that the Salford fans were singing "this is a sh!thole, I want to go home" Having worked in Salford for several years believe me they have nothing to sing about. Marsh Green & Plattbridge are like Mayfair compared to Langworthy & the Weaste the rest of Salford doesn't fair much better either.
Worsley? Monton? Ellesmere Park? Broughton Park?
I'm not even gonna try and defend Langworthy.....
Worsley and Monton are nice and the Quays of course. Broughton Park I think is pushing it!
Don't actually disagree with your original post re the atmosphere, though in the south stand where I was sat I thought it was better in parts during the game. I think the club and a couple of fan groups have tried to start some initiatives to try and improve the match day atmosphere but they never went anywhere.
The Wigan fanbase is not the most vocal - that is true. But then its not a singing contest. Plus its a problem that also exists in the other two 25k seater stadiums in the league that in all honesty are far too big for the sport. Even in a lot of Hull games (and Hull fans are very vocal) the atmosphere is poor due to the size of the stadium.
