| Quote Backwoodsman="Backwoodsman"June 9th labour have pulled off a stunning election victory. The cafes of islington have sold out of skinny lattes and smoked salmon.
Meanwhile in Downing Street Diane and jezza gaze at each other in admiration. Who would thought she said ,that years ago when we were on that motor bike of yours we would end up here.
The phone rings Diane picks up, it's Donald for you jezza ,oh hell I don't want to talk to him, no it's Donald tusk the eu negotiations boss. Jezza congratulations, thanks Donald ,any chance if you starting brexit negotiations, sorry Donald the allotment needs weeding also the spuds need earthing up.
Ok we just need you to send some money to start things offf, how much Donald. Not much about 100 million smackers ,I know it won't be a problem as you believe in wealth distribution . We are the same in the eu we like distributing the British wealth.
Ok Donald not a problem will send it over asap. Rings John Mc Donnell John ,we need a million smackers for the eu, no problem I will get the Bank of England to print some money. We had some gold somewhere but I can't seem to find it , I might ring Gordon brown I believe he is an expert on gold.'"
I dunno, I think the Europeans are more likely to take a more reasonable approach once we drop this whole "Give us what we want or we'll become a tax haven" bilge. I'd much rather have the likes of Starmer, Gardiner and Thornberry than Davis, Boris and that clown Fox.

| If Labour do pull off an unexpected victory, and get into power, and the Conservatives are left in tatters, will the Leave vote still be seen as a bad idea? Bearing in mind none of this would have been possible without it and the whole country would still be sat around wanting to stick forks in Cameron and Osborne's eyes.

| Agreed - you have to give credit where it is due Corbyn engaged with younger people and he got them out to vote. The turnouts were extraordinary. He fought a brilliant campaign and you have to applaud his integrity.
Despite the worst campaign in living memory the Tories still won the popular vote and have c60 more seats than the Labour - imagine what the result would have been if say Boris or Hammond had fronted it rather than the wet fish that did!! Labour are only in the position they were in 2010 - so no great shakes really.

Even letting Boris, Hammond, Hunt etc contribute, with her at the helm promoting the Tory party policies rather than her running a singular presidential campaign. Shambolic.
Soft Brexit, No Jock independence and a soft border in NI all in 24 hours. Maybe not all bad

Agreed and you will see an increase in public spending - so again not all bad and the tax reductions to the high earners will disappear too

| New Tory leader, coming soon ?
The main issue now will be what effect running a coalition/minority government will have on our Brexit negotiations and if/when there will be another election (neither party can run a meaningful government for any length of time with the numbers as they are) and what further effect this will have on Brexit.
No deal is looking somewhat more likely.

Soft Brexit? With Jacob Rees Mogg and the DUP holding the balance of power, I wouldn't bank on it.
May was trying to sideline the nuttier elements of her own Party as well as deliver an electoral smackdown to Labour. zero from two on that.

| mrs may speaking outside Downing Street, never mentioned the disastrous election result. Very strange indeed, now forming a government with the dup. All well and good for her, but she needs to be more concerned with getting support from her back benches. She is obviously toxic now to the tories. Unlikely but one never knows ,would be Gerry Adams and his buddies taking seats in parliament. As they are pals with jezza and hate the dup ,if this occurs then the tories are finished.

For the tail wagging the dog poster, should we put May in the pocket of Arlene Foster or Nigel Dodds?
No, me either. Let's find out more:

Yes, they may have most seats but, T. May is now a lame duck, all credibility gone and if her plan was to strengthen her bargaining position with the EU, it has backfired spectacularly.
The movers and shakers in the EU are laughing at her as well as the UK and with the disruption of another election, right in the middle of EU negotiations, who know's where we will end up.
If it wasn't such a shambles and important to all of our futures, it would be utterly hilarious.
If they make another 5 years, without another election, I'll show my on Huddersfield town hall steps.
Loving your understatement at the end of your post.
