Widnes are now favourites for both the Championship regular season (Evens), with Fax at 6-4, and the Grand Final (6-4), with Fax at 2-1...



...but we're still favourites for the Northern Rail at 6-4, with Widnes at 7-2.



My principles dictate that I can't have a punt on Widnes in the NRC (how the heck would I feel watching the match if Fax were facing Widnes), but if SkyBet were offering an e/w bet I might just have a punt at those odds.

Widnes did a pretty decent job on them (sticked to a game plan, and took the chances when they came), but I don't think it gave us many clues at all of what's to come for the rest of the season...

even though it wasnt really a good test for widnes this season most of the widnes players dont have to prove themselves they have done that players like smith webser and duffy have been playing at this level before and we know there good its just whether we have a good night or a bad night a good night and we can beat them.

It is clear to me, even at this early stage, that Widnes are head and shoulders above the rest, and if i were Cullen, I would rest Smith, Webster and Thackeray next week. Wouldn't want them to burn out!!!

The thing which really shocked me tonight wasn't how poor Toulouse were but that fantastic pass that missed two men for the winger to scorch away to set up a try. The pass from VARKULIS??!!!

If Widnes had won but it being close, they would have confidence going into next Thursday but still with a point to prove.

What actually happened last night Widnes were allowed to play great rugby and have a real confidence, but weren't tested at all.



Toulouse simply made Widnes look good (Kohe-Love was still a excrement-bag as per). They were slow, had little resistance out wide and their discipline was awful, did come up with some big hits down the middle though.



Why can't Sky do for the Championship games do as they do for SL games, get different coaches on. It would have been perfectr to get Matt Calland on last night seen as though we have a free weekend and is who the next game features. It's going to get boring with the Morrisons pie thief on every week spouting his same "I didn't realise there was any standard of rugby outside SL before" rubbish every week.



Good crowd though, how many were freebies?

Plus, if it is going to be a fight between us and Widnes up at the top, after last night, points difference is going to be vital. Extra important now to get our defence as tight as ever and really post some big scores against some of the unfancied sides.

I think SKY should start by getting shut of Bill Arthur .... he's only slightly better than Ray French at commentating, and he seems to stutter, stammer and blunder his way through the pre-match and post-match analysis. And who's the guy who does the "on pitch" interviews? He's bluddy useless!

Widnes were professional but they did nothing that much as were never tested in attack or defence! I think Smith, Duffy and Webster are the key to shutting Widnes out. Break them 3 and Widnes are lost in attack.



Toulouse way off the pace, totally unfit and really a penalty machine! I was shocked just how bad they defended and missed tackles. No leaders and no real dangermen! I had hoped Toulouse would offer something different and something special but they should be in Championship 1 going on last night. Shame!!

What U8s don't do is be the third man into nearly every tackle and in which either giving the player a facial or yanking his leg for no apparent reason.



This is my opinion, if portraying my opinion on fans forum makes a person a cockrel then every poster on this network is a cockrel. It is also not envy, why would I be envious when Fax have Jon Goddard, James Haley and Shad Royston? I would have those players in my team every day of week over TKL, he is not a player I enjoy watching. Plus there is a reason why Leigh fans were glad to get rid.

True, he is good at his pitch-side analysis but seems to suffer from stage fright a tad when in the gantry. Still, I don't mind him though.

He didnt want to play for Leigh thus he left as soon as he could, have Haley or Royston ever played super league? NO.



One of the toughest defenders in this division and still has the classy footwork and hands. He's a rough tough kiwi who enjoys the battle.

haley has played in SL I think as has Goddard, Penkywicz, Smith, Beswick, Gleeson and James.

Haley hasn't. Played first team for the first time in 2004.
