| Arthur with Mags assistant is my dream ticket.
Honestly if you look at the form, everything points to Rowley. Ackers, Croft, Blease, Rowley is basically an asset strip.

| I found the press conference with GH and Blease interesting. GH going on about how difficult it is to get a coach, how winning can cover a dysfunctional club and vice versa (incidentally both sides of that happened on GH's watch....), and Blease far more direct and to the point, and again talking about focusing on getting the club back to the top.
I didn't know much about Blease, but I like his style - blunt and to the point. Having put him in place, GH needs to leave this stuff to him now. Its like having your granddad wittering on about the good old days when you're trying to talk about what to do about the cost of living today.

| Rowleys massive plus, is he clearly get's the most out of bargin basement players. Quite the opposite to RS. How they've brought in Cade Cust to replace Croft without looking much worse is pretty incredible.
The bonus for Arthur is you get the impression his players would run through a brick wall for him. You can see from his behind the scenes coaching vid on Youtube (which is a brill watch) that he's a natural born leader /communicator and man manager. Again, this isn't something I ever witnessed in RS.

| going to happen in the presser though.
I’d be happy with Arthur or Rowley. I’d avoid Demetriou given its man management that seems to have let him down at souths.
If it’s Rowley and it can’t be him while next year I think we need an interim.

| I’m guessing Leeds will be weighing up Arthur as the better pedigree, and immediately available option - but more expensive vs Rowley who has a worse pedigree and shouldn’t be available until next season. The money will have a part to play as always.
Maybe neither will happen and it will be someone else, but these two seem the natural front runners don’t they? Demetriou is still possible I’d say.

| Can't reply to your post JB but i agree on Wane. He ticks all the boxes and shouldn't be discounted at all. Very very capable coach.

| I'm just glad it's not me making this appointment. I think all we can do is manage the risk and hope for the best - no coach is going to magically turn everything around but we need someone the fans and players can fully get behind.
Again, I'd prefer a coach to come in immediately so they can get four months contact time with the playing squad before designing the next pre-season and any upcoming retention and recruitment. I know Blease is there for that too but it's better if the coach is involved in those discussions if they're going to be held accountable for the outcomes.

One of the Aussie papers reports we are interviewing Arthur Friday night, which is probably some time this morning. If Rowley comes I don't think it will be the end of the year, it will be ASAP with appropriate compensation to Salford, as it would have been if he had chosen Hull. I think the same applies to Arthur or any coach for that matter. Can't afford to let the grass grow under our feet again.

| Agree Jim, very tough decisions here to be made. i like what Blease has had to say on this so far, his approach is very refreshing, not wittering on talking in riddles like GH. I have a good feeling we can trust him in this one

| The Blease appointment was more important then the next coaching appointment IMO.
I'm coming round to Rowley being my first choice if I'm honest. I've read some stuff on BA and his coaching style and I'm not sure it fits.
But Id be happy with either with who's available.

| Some of the best appointments in Super League have been relatively short, it's the quality that matters. Look how Murray, McGuire and Holbrook all got their clubs turned around in a short space of time. It's that type of appointment we need with Blease already looking for the next guy if the NRL come calling. Sound's like Arthur is available and could be in position relatively quickly. If that could facilitate some new front rowers so much the better.

| I think Rowley is the favourite.
It's always a risk bringing an Aussie over.
Rowley is proven in SL and can seemingly get the best out of a rag tag bunch.
Probably what we need right now.
Willie Peters would be my number 1 choice, but that's not gonna happen.
I know it will be unpopular as it's old boys club, but I would also be looking at Danny Mags as assistant.

| In answer to your question, Jim, I'd be happy with either Rowley or Arthur. There's a certain seductive alure in bringing in a head coach from the NRL, and he's clearly achieved quite a bit in the toughest RL competition in the world. My only concerns are the usual ones around homesickness, not knowing the ins and outs of the English competition etc. In terns of Rowley, while I get peoples opinions about him not coaching at a big club, I don't buy into them. I've really enjoyed watching Salford play over the last few years and if he can replicate that (with a far bigger budget) at Leeds, we could have something special. I suspect we'd also have a much greater chance of keeping Rowley at the club than Arthur if we started to see success on the field. In summary, despite the wow factor Arthur would bring, I lean slightly towards Rowley.

| Exactly my view Arthur.
Heart says Arthur.
Head says Rowley.
I'd be OK with either tbh.

| Of course the coach needs to be top drawer, bags of experience, been there, done that etc. But we need the next perm coach in now. An interim writes this season off and puts us back to the beginning from next. Arthur certainly meets the criteria and is available. So does Rowley, and if he makes the move now, fair enough.

| Demetriou is still a leftfield choice; he's familiar with English conditions etc. and has a point to prove after Souths. He was heralded as the golden boy of coaching just a couple of years ago. Has his star fallen completely..?
Jason Ryles is sometimes mentioned in Aus but another assistant, and I think we need an established head coach now.
Sounds like Arthur is interested at the right price/opportunity, and Rowley sounds like he'd also consider, so perhaps this is a straight shoot-out between the two in reality.

| Quote KaeruJim="KaeruJim" Some of the reporting on his style concerned me a little bit (leaving players on the bench until the last 5 minutes, shudder...). '"
Yes I read that article and whilst he was a players favourite his style of play was let the forwards drive it up until they`re knackered and resist bringing on the subs as long as possible.
Most teams found the Eels out by defending against them until they ran out of gas.
Sadly we don`t have the forwards who can play that style of rugby.
I still think Lee Briers and or Jason Ryles might work.
Other than that get Wane in until the end of the season and take it from there.
