Ablett is a better loose forward than second rower; Delaney is a better second rower than Ablett; Ablett is a better centre than Delaney. Simples.

I think Ablett is a better right centre than Delaney. Delaney is probably as good as Ablett in the second row. Delaney has the potential to be a very, very good second rower for this club IMHO, just as Chris McKenna (another average right centre) was.

I think Ablett's a better centre too but I also think Ablett's the best 2nd row forward in the squad. He was awesome today and got us on the front foot every time he took the ball up. He is looking more like Ellis every game.



Delaney has looked very good as a 2nd rower though and has the ideal speed/strength to play there on a regular basis. He drives the line back after contact and as shown today, has the speed to go all the way if he runs a good line.

Agree with all that. While I think Ablett would offer a little more than Delaney at centre I'm not sure how much more we can mess the kid around.



He must be 25 now??? He has been one of our more consistent performers over the last 2 or 3 years and had he not spent large chunks of his career filling in at centre I'm sure he'd be pushing for international honours. He also seems to pick up injuries (or suspensions!) just he's hitting a real purple patch. Some of the lines he runs are brilliant

Ben Cross for me, shouldnt get in the squad when Peacock is back (id go with: Bailey, Leulaui; Burgess, Peacock) same in the second row for Weller Hauraki, (Ablett, Delaney; Jones-Buchanan, Clarkson (depends on whether Delaney moves into the pack or not)) which is disappointing so to speak.

For me ablett is by far the best back row forward we have. Would like to see him stay there rather than keep shifting him to the centre. Yes when there are no other options but would like to see him keep his place in the pack.

I agree, Ablett doesnt really get the respect for the stuff he does. Big key players imo.

I am sure delaney would go a good job in back row, however if it's a choice of either delaney or ablett I would want ablett there and delaney in centre, however I would play smith in centre when all fit

Smith is a great utility back ..but let's not go down the route again of him being our long term answer to the right centre spot.

I maintain BJB would be the better option there with Smith given his opportunity at FB.

What about trying Wilson for a couple of games ? Experiment with Hall there maybe... But not Smith.

Just to get into this debtate on Delaney or Ablett in second row and or centre.



Personally, just to chuck another one in, and picking up on a comment from nantwichexile, I actually think that Hall would be a superb backrower. Of course the opinion is that he is a good winger and and that's his position, but IMO he would be an even better backrower.

He will make a good back-rower later in his career. Right now, his front on defence isn't good enough and I'm not convinced his hands in traffic are all that cracking either.



He's currently one of the better wingers in the competition - let's leave him there for the time being shall we?
