| What's Barrie McDermott doing these days, can we clone him?
Same goes for Kylie Leuluai.

| Quote KaeruJim="KaeruJim"I want a proper prop; not Cuthbertson, Prior, Merrin etc but more of a Garbutt when he first came.
A big horrible thing that is hard to handle.'"
If you look on the other fotums, every fan basically asks for this every year....
Reality is that type of player is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
We dropped seriously lucky with Kylie, and Garbutt probation gets remembered more favourably than his short time with us deserved.
Garbutt vs Tamou is the thing I remember most from the last 3 years though......!

| Probably get slated for this on here but someone like Kyle Amor would be ideal for us next season I think. For a few reasons our pack is pretty solid ( not exactly the same intimidating pack when we had the likes of JP, Leuluai and Lauiti'iti and others ) but it's stronger than we've had over the last couple of seasons. Oledzki and Seumanufagai are our big props making meteres and have a bit of wack about them, Prior adds experience and long minutes at 13 for us, Cam Smith is our ball playing pack man at 13 or coming off the bench for us, Donaldson is in there for his defence to rack up tackles and do the dirty stuff players don't really like doing and Holroyd is another big strong middle man for us but is young and only in his second full season with us and we need to allow him to develop properly as a player. So my point about Amor if he came in he adds experience to our pack after losing Cuthbo and Crosby next season he's 32 so could do 2-3 years if his body holds up, he's also been at the most consistent club arguably in SL history in St Helens and he's been in there pack consistently since he signed for them and won a few trophies since he's been there. He could do a job for us like he has for them when he's been on bench and put on to spell the likes of Walmsley and others in there pack. Amor is also off contract end of this season so could be a cheaper option for us as with all the Covid cut backs and everything I don't think we'll be splashing loads of cash for signings it's not really our style anyway and could allow us to save cash for when we need to hand out new deals in 2021. Obviously Amor has history with us and it didn't work out for him in his first stint with us but look at Luke Gale for us now.
Possible 2021 pack
8. Seumanufagai
10. Oldezki
13. Prior
15.Smith
16. Amor/ another new prop
17. Holroyd/ Donaldson/

| Amor a possibility, but not really a solution, just a bit part player for Saints over the past couple of seasons . Might just discover another Kylie if we look hard enough

You’re not wrong but they are out there with good robust scouting and some good cap space to play with

| Solid props are 10 a penny, especially in Aus. There's no reason why we can't get one.

Agree would do a job, but think our ambitions are hopefully higher. We'll have some cap and quota spots so expect an Antipodean prop to come in for next year, to replace Cuthbo...

| Would just be another really bad plodder signing if we signed Amor. Hull KR, Wakey, Salford etc sign players of that calibre. Yeah we have been in the same barrell scraping for players I know, but we need much better than Kyle Amor.

| Can't Hurrell get on the phone to some of his NRL chums. He's really enjoying his time at Leeds, he needs to convince a quality prop to come over!

| Well, as a club starting to win silverware again and with a positive culture, we suddenly become an attractive proposition again don't we? Big difference from a couple of years back - I would have forgiven NRL players choosing other clubs to be honest!
Think it's important not to block pathways for young players now unless there is a real need. And for me I'd rather be signing specialist players in a position rather than utilities - we have cover in most positions now and to go to the next level I think we need players who own their spot and are at or near international quality.

I agree unless he's a worldy in a particular position that prop is only where we should be looking. We have some very good players and these need to be integrated next season.I know not all will as this is very difficult to do so.
