I can't help but think Smith isn't that dissapointed that Leeming is gone/going. Was he a fan? No, he opted to bench him in 22 and did the same in a very short time this year. They've obviously had an honest conversation, Leeming hasn't liked what he's heard and asked to go. Now we have a wedge free on our salary cap if we choose to spend it. In addition, we have cleared out a player who wasn't quite good enough from our spine without any serious acrimony. That's a win in my book.

Was Smith having a dig at Leeming in his after match comment, that O'Connor "plays for the name on the front of the shirt, not the one on the back"? A bit harsh if that was the case, but O'Connor is rightly the number 1 choice at hooker.

Think some of you are being harsh on Leeming. Senior player and close to England 9 who has been put down the pecking order by a new coach, and from his point of view had the captaincy taken off him.



I happen to agree with Rohan on this but I wouldn’t expect Leeming to stay around if he doesn’t feel wanted, which is exactly how he will have felt.

If his performances were up to the standard needed then I'm sure he would feel wanted. I'm sure Smith has made the call on captaincy and selection based on what's best for the team and Leeming not meeting those requirements. Not forgetting Smith didn't choose Leeming as captain.

His going hasn't really made much of a ripple tbh. No more than the likes of gale and sutty and probably less than Hardaker and Dwyer. Not only the coach unconvinced it seems.

1 and 6 or 7 are still issues

If Austin plays to that level consistently this year id have no issues keeping him. Sezers still got a way to go if he wants a contract beyond this year.

As well as he played on Saturday, that's once in his Leeds career. He started off at Warrington like a house on fire, but that didn't last. I suspect that he's a good player who's age is catching up with him a bit. I'd be looking at replacing all three of 1, 6 and 7 if we can, but if we can't then Austin is probably the one I'd keep.

Id keep Austin, i think he’s a good player to have around as he’s apparently great with the younger players, hes also on record saying he’s happy with one year deals

I’d keep Austin and Sezer personally. Fullback needs looking at, but Myler can be useful cover across the back line…..

Of 1,6 &7, I'd be looking at standards and given ages, whether signs of decline are evident.

For me, sezer hasn't convinced, Austin has improved and Mylers perhaps beginning to fade.

Still a watching brief for now but right now I'd probably keep Austin and maybe Myler, albeit neither on a long deal.

I think Myler is contracted for next year

He is. I'd really like a full with some pace for next year (perhaps Hooley is the answer) but I would keep Myler till the end of his contract, if he wanted to stay.

We're not going to be able to replace 1,6 & 7 with quality in one off-season.

If Myler is contracted for 2024, then we may as well stick with him while we see if Hooley is the future.



But then it is also unlikely that we will get both a 6 and a 7 in one go.

I think we probably give Austin another year and look to replace Sezer.
