There's luck involved with NRL signings nowadays - Croft, Field and Dufty all became available in quick time. Re Hodgson, I have no idea how well he's going for the Knights, but its quite common for players to not debut until they're 20/21 in the NRL. I'd rather we aimed a bit higher - preferably someone who has played more than one first team game!

He suffered a serious injury last year and hasn't played since I think

He played one of the trial games this year but got injured again, was back for the 1st round of NSW cup end of Feb, not sure how he's been doing

He was a very good junior player whilst at Cas and one who also had the balls to back his himself by going to the NRL and also whilst so young.



Due to his recent injuries then perhaps he may have to come back to SL if the Knights don't offer him a new contract?



The contract money required nowadays to sign top NRL players is astronomical, so targeting talented players that are under the radar from the NRL can be very beneficial if due diligence is done (especially if they have had injuries)

Not fair to judge Hooley from that game in horrendous conditions, and literally thrown in too soon after injury……

to be fair it would fit well with our overseas recruitment record in recent years to sign a half back from a team with 0 points so far this season, and who is currently getting slagged off by the media as one of the worst in the NRL.

Moving people to fullback has been an obsession for a bit. It used to be promising young halves (See Tomkins/Lomax) and more recently especially in the NRL it’s been the best athlete in the team. This has partly been lead by players over there because fullback is seen as a more valuable role than say centre or wing and therefore attracts better contracts. It’s also seen as more of a glamour role.





But no I don’t think Macdonald would go well at fullback.

Think Fusi could have been a better option on las game than Hooley. But what ifs now

You can’t just ‘move on’ an injured player, he was playing well up until his injury look at his stats specifically metres made.
