Sezer would be my first choice, but he’s injured. Full back is now his position, but Myler can still do a job as at half back, having played most of his 14 year Super League career there.

| If Sezer is injured I would put Leeming in the halves, Myler FB and Hardaker centre.

Totally agree. Myler has more than done a job at full back. He adds so.much to our attack. Leeming at 7 for me. In my opinion, he actually looks a better 7 than 9.

| Its wrong to suggest that Myler (or Sutcliffe) can 'do a job' at halfback, unless you mean fail utterly. Myler has never successfully led a team from halfback, he's always been second fiddle to team leaders. Sutcliffe hasn't shown anything to suggest he's capable of playing 6 since 2015 except for a lot of appearances there in a lot of losing games.
The 'player X can do a job' thinking led us into this season with just two actual halfbacks, and has led to us retaining the likes of Sutcliffe (and umpteen rubbish middles) way too long.

| When Myler was playing half back for us we had arguably the worst pack in super league. He also won player of the year in his first season. He may not be the answer at half back but it would mean Leeming not having to cover the halves and most importantly Dwyer not having to get big minutes there.

| Usually I'd agree but myler in the halves makes more sense with the impact around other positions. Ie Dwyer less minutes at 9, hardaker at fb means broadbent stays at centre continuing his good form. Arguably last time out Leeming didn't start great in the halves and went better at 9.

| In addition, Hardaker is a far better full back than centre.

| How many returning from lay offs, for whatever reason, do you put into the starting 13 at the same time?
Great news that so many will be available for selection but has to be tempered a little with caution

| I’d bring Hardaker, Fusitua, Bentley, Tetevano back into the starting lineup and Myler and possibly Mellor on the bench

| I agree that Hardaker is a far better fullback than centre, but Myler is a far better fullback than halfback. Myler links play better from fullback than Hardaker imo, so I would play Myler with Leeming and Austin at Half.

I agree completely.
Zak and Myler are very very different fullbacks. Zak is a broken field runner, not a play-maker, basically a better version of Walker.
I think part of our poor attack this season comes back to training all pre-season with Myler at fullback and him getting injured.
I think whoever Smith plays there will show a bit about how he want the team to play.

| Myler has to play fullback, he's the best at the club in that position, our are dire apart from Newman who is injured so for me Zak has to play there, we have no strike out wide otherwise. Fusi will be very rusty.

| Personally, Hardaker is the best full back at the club and is very average at centre, however, Myler is likewise average at half back. If Hardaker is just going to be around this season then keep him at centre but if he is going to be sticking around then he should be full back.

| please remember the improvements during the recent games was when the youngsters stood up to be counted give them credit and do not be too keen to replace them. Just build the team round them rather than a wholesale swap for players who have not played for weeks or may have medical problems. Also remember the returnees are the same players who produced the worst start to a season for years. Plan for the future.

i dont think people are keen to replace them, but we cant really expect the 17yos like Simpson and Sinfield to have to play week in week out - great prospects though the are.

| Maybe we could play with 2 full backs, Myler and Hardaker, and just go with Austin alone at half back

| I've a feeling that with having 2 weeks off Smith might go with giving Sinfield another start allowing for some more settled positional issues around 9 and fb.

Getting much better looking team now. Not enough to compete top 4, but way better than relegation candidates…..

| Aside from returning players it will be interesting to see the change to style of play Smith alluded to. He was being diplomatic about what has gone on before, but he if there's something that's glaringly obvious it suggests he's seen something fundamentally wrong with parts of our game.

Yes that was interesting.
We do need to temper our expectations a little though I think, new coach new systems and returning players it might take a few weeks to click, Im expecting a clunky performance on Sunday.
Salford have named a very strong squad aswell, it will be a very tricky game.
