| Quote LeedsDave="LeedsDave"Don't think any of us thought Zak had lost his skill or ability.
But let's not forget his antics off the field at the club were becoming very difficult until eventually his employment at the club became untenable.
I'm pleased he has a fresh start at Cas and hope he keeps it up on and off the field once the honeymoon period is over.
But grief, people are quick to forget what happened last year.'"
Nobody is saying they want him back, at least i'm not anyway he burnt his bridges and him moving on is best for both parties. Just the inevitable transformation in his game overnight can't be ignored, coincidence?

Just saying the EIGHTY minute showing wasn't as impressive as it's been made out to be.

| A lot will depend on how we deal with their bench. They were average until Millington and Moors came on to give them some more grunt up front, Millington also provides an extra pivot when he comes on. He's a big lad, so draws defenders away from Gale in the middle, giving him more time on the ball. Warrington's initial contact was very poor, and they fell off too many tackles. If our line speed is good, and we hard in the collusion we will give ourselves a very good chance. The result isn't the foregone conclusion some think it'll be.

Agreed. If our defence (which has been encouraging) perform well then we have a chance. Warrington's defence was typical post WCC/CC tired stuff. And as mentioned some of the tries Cas gifted them were really soft.

Sounds like the Zak of 2015 when at Leeds.

It was just as impressive as Wire ripping Brisbane a new one the week before & way above anything we've produced in the last 12mths.
Wrt Wire "looking tired" did you watch us last night?
Even with our improved defence we'll leak soft tries look at Salfords scores last night for e.g.
You may not think it was impressive but they outclassed one of the favourites on their own patch & we'll need to be 10x better & then some to get close next week.
Oh before it gets mentioned i'll be tipping us to win i always do.

| Wake up and smell the coffee , we are light years behind Cas on the playing front and certainly on the coaching teams as much as it pains me to say . I will be going out of blind loyalty but know i will hate every minute .

| Rather than accept a fee for Hardaker, I wish we could buy Powell out of his contract & get him back to Headingley as our coach.

You forgot Millington and Moors who are probably the most under appreciated players in our side from an opposition perspective.

Rated Millington, one of those rare Aussies who come over with decent NRL experience, at the right age, really keen to work hard and buy in to the team.
He's a bit like Delaney for us in that respect, albeit with a different skill set.

Disagree there mate, certainly from my perspective anyway. I wasn't sure on Millington at first but he has been clearly one of your best since Powell took over and Moors has always been a handful for any defence.

| At the risk of turning this into a Cas love fest, I think the development of Mike McMeeken is one of the most exciting parts of Cas's growth. 2 years ago at Headingley was the first time I remember seeing him. I assumed he was some big, lazy Aussie just hanging round the middle of the park. I then realised he probably didn't really know RL that well. Since then his development has been remarkable. His break for Zak's try, then spinning out a 20m pass from the kick off for Zak to break out & send Gale clear were signs of his fantastic potential under Powell.

Powell signed a new long term deal with us last year, and he insisted on taking out the old clauses that were in place from his previous one. He is left to get on with his job by the board and gets on great with the C.E.O. Also don't forget the input from Danny Orr & Ryan Sheridan in the coaching axis.
Would G.H really break the bank to get Powell (or all 3) and not interfere in day to day plans?.

Cas have the option to extend Chase's contract until the end of 2018.

| Looking at the NRL teams for round 1 it occurs to me that Zak is better than 6 of the starting fullbacks and WAY better than 3 of them. Did no team really offer him a contract? or did he genuinely not wanna go?

Why didn't you post this before the season started? Zak after one good TV looks better than he did in 2015. Some may have thought it but not many called it. Certainly not you. And you make the statement before a ball has been kicked in the NRL.
Hardaker was simply average at best at Penrith.
In the spirt of debate name and shame the fullbacks who he's better than.
