I actually think I did post something similar when it was decided he was going to Cas, I certainly said I would be shocked if Newcastle didn't come in for him.



The three I think he is way better than are Phythian, Gordon, and Beale, and imo he is also better than Hoopate and French (at fullback at least), and Tonumaipe (who I admit I don't know much about)



Hardaker was average at Pentrith, but he went in the middle of his worst ever season and was mainly played at centre, a position I thought he wasn't very good at for us tbh

Thats not what that means btw, and I hope Wests win as well because I don't like Robbie Farrah (though you probably do) and it would be funny.

From the NRL's view I'd imagine the fee was off putting (although as seen they could've had him cheaper). After Tomkins failed at NZ probably a bit wary of splashing cash on English backs (forwards to backs ratio who go to the NRL from SL is heavily in the fronts favour). Also they have enough issues over there with misbehaving players let alone bringing one over from England.

Munster will be playing FB for Melbourne and Hardaker is not better than him. However his NRL failure was down to him going to Aus in the worst mental and physical shape of his life, and being used as a bit-part centre rather than a fullback. There's no doubt that a fully switched on Zak would be an asset to a lot of clubs in the NRL.

Hopoate is a really good full back. His problem is his unwillingness to play sundays.



Hardaker of 2015 and possibly this year would go well enough in the NRL. Hardaker last year sucked, and didn't deserve an NRL contract - he was probably the poorest full back I saw in the NRL last year.

Did he ever play full back for panthers? Thought he just played centre.

I personally hope that Hardaker does not revert to his previous patterns of misbehaviour. On last night's showing he's getting back to his best & will be a welcome addition to the national squad.

I for one am sorry to see him go but I suppose it was inevitable. I hope we use the suggested fee to strengthen the squad. GH needs to look at why we had to let him go & why Powell appears to be getting the best out of him.

You only get so many lives I'm afraid and he used his up and a fresh start is what he needed regardless of the coaches ability. Still early days to see if he can keep himself out of trouble, even Cas couldn't help Chase.

Well, we got good years out of him. Three titles, a WCC, two challenge cups and a league leaders shield isn't a bad return.



Shame the way it ended, but we move on.

As long as the money is reinvested in the team, it's no big deal. He was never gong to play fo Leeds the same way he has been doing for Cas because we don't ask our fullback to play that way. Good luck to him, it was time to move on, I'm looking forward to who we spend the money on...

From an England perspective Hardaker at his best is the best option we have at full back.

No hard feelings really, the guy clearly has some mental issues and I guess the Leeds coaching staff were no longer willing to deal with his off field behaviour, but good luck to him.



Does solidify the need to look at our future fullback options, Golding has made excellent strides in his defensive games but he doesnt offer enough in attack for me, and with the way we have used fullbacks for the past 5 years he is too small to make the tackle breaks that Hardaker made.

Im not saying we need to buy a fullback btw, but I do think we would get a lot more joy in attack with either Sutcliffe or even Moon at fullback (both I think are wasted at centre).

Let's see the money invested in the team now

From what I remember of Zak in his early days at Fev his attacking skills were pretty good.

He worked on his defensive skills at Leeds and played to the game plan of the coach.

Golding is mirroring Zak in as much as his attacking game was spot on until he got the full back berth and was told to work on his defence.

Golding in Castleford`s team would look brilliant IMO.

Good luck to Zak I hope he can stay out of trouble and continue his good form.

I tipped him for MOS this year but I would think that will go to Luke Gale.
