I've just seen it. The reaction from the Saints players didn't help him. Although, it didn't look like Asiata tried to wrap his arms, potentially making it a shoulder charge? The Saints player is lucky his leg wasn't planted when Asitasi made contact, he could have snapped his leg.

Except it was on the knee, as Mata’utia clearly had markings in the subsequent set. Just because you’re parroting your esteemed leader doesn’t make it true. It was everything that was reckless and dangerous about the tackles last year (low body position, no sight on the contact as he was looking the wrong way, and despite what has been claimed there was no attempt to wrap the arms). About his only defence was he didn’t have both feet off the floor and that’s only because his body position was so low one of his calves was dragging on the floor. The Saints reaction is exactly what he was going for given Paasi is still months away from recovery.



Moreover, the fact he did it in the first tackle of the game makes it clear he was trying to be the clever pantomime villain. Didn’t work out too clever for him.

The original tweet had plenty of people saying it was Madden not Chester. Looks like a Saints fan called him out basically.

Sangare and Bentley will both be called up and probably banned for next week. The rules are very difficult to play with, but the players are not helping themselves.

Sangare’s was similar ish to Lisone’s, coming in from above and behind the player. He shouldn’t be banned but he might well be.



Wouldn’t be surprised if both Sims and Bentley are given a couple of weeks after obvious blows to the head each.

He's been charged with a grade F, so a potential 6+ match ban for him.

So what's the difference between what Sangare did to get charged, and what Dezaria and Sims both got carded for? Both escaped even a citation.

Sims also not cited for direct contact to Bentleys head when he's on the floor already?

Sims is lucky not to be called after 2 separate incidents to the head in which he was penalised. He'll be lucky to escape bans this year with how he plays - I still think for the comp we need to see players like him on the field though.

I've not seen the tackle but let me hazard a wild guess that some of the players who, a fortnight ago, were bemoaning cards being shown left and right, were straight in there, arms spread, appealing to the ref to send him off.

Thought Bentley may have received a stiffer sentence , surprised Sims didn’t receive anything, should have at least had a £250 fine .

It was stupid by Bentley. Match ban deserved.

In the greater scheme of things the punishment just about fits the crime here.

Good to see Sangare with no ban. However it does make you wonder how Lisone was three matches and Sangare 0. They didn’t seem that drastically different.
