| Quote Neruda="Neruda"I wouldn't be surprised to see us interested in Qareqare, given we were rumoured to be interested before - but at only 20 it depends on how Rohan feels about our young kids since Simpson, Lumb and J.Smith are all about that same age
QQ has always looked dangerous with the ball when I've seen him and has a good strike rate in his appearances
If we rate any of our young players as potential starters then I think we sign someone more experienced from the NRL on a two year contract as a placeholder like we did with Frawley at half
I hope some of our young potential wingers can get some games at open age in the championship this season, so we can see where they are at development wise'"
Jason does seem capable of the odd wonder try. Not Hall for a swansong year and finish his career where it all started…?

| Hall for me would be a risk. Wrong end of career and only going to go downhill. Would prob also be a fair whack of salary cap too. Depending on where our own youngsters are at prob go for a winger from aus reserve grade for a couple of years.

| Leon Ruan is going back to Doncaster for an initial 1 month loan. It's a good move for him personally getting regular game time in championship to keep developing his game and with a fully fit pack now his chances are limited at Leeds atm, however I hope he gets plenty of other opportunities this season for Us he has bags of potential and has already shown great signs in the games he's already played.

None of Simpson, Lumb or Smith are wingers.
We need a winger to replace Fusitua.
There was a meltdown on here when we played Momirovski there.
And btw, it's not Ryan Hall.

I reckon Lumb has played more wing than fb over the last two years, and it's not unusual for young players who started at fb/centre to be introduced into the first team on the wing.
Even Ryan Hall was a full back until he got moved to the wing.
But as I said I expect an experienced winger to come in for a couple of years at least

NRL Wingers OOC at end of 2024 season
https://www.zerotackle.com/players/off-contract-2024/
Corey Oates – Brisbane – 30 years next season
Jordan Pereira – Brisbane – 30/31 years next season
Nick Cotric – Canberra – 26 years next season
Jordan Rapana – Canberra – 35 years next season
Edrick Lee – Dolhins – 32 years next season
Kyle Feldt – Queensland – 33 years next season
Semi Valemei – Queensland - 26 years next season
Sunia Turuva – Penrith – 22 years next season
Daniel Tupou – Roosters - 33 years next season
There are other players but this list is the most prominent first teamers.
My preferred choice would be Sunia Turuva but can’t see him being released. Daniel Tupou kept Ryan Hall out of the Roosters first team. I would love to have Jordan Rapana but his age goes against him. He is a full on, 100% effort, 100% determined player who would wind up the opposition up no end.

| If we were looking for a good winger, I’d look at Oates or perhaps Tupou but age counts against Tupou a bit. I think both would be improvements on Fus, although they are probably long shots.
We need to fix the pack first though, putting a younger player on the wing if it means we sort out the front row and get a second rower with some attacking ability would be a very wise move.

| I'm not sure. The base level of outside backs in the NRL someone like Nene MacDonald, where as here it's the likes of Olpherts, Roberts and Innes Senior. We have a settled spine, and should be able to find forwards domestically, so now maybe a good time to use a quota spot on a good winger.

| We should be looking into bringing in a forward mid-season, given a few of the exits (e.g. Myler and Olpherts).
How about an experienced pack leader (beefier version of Prior), or a an aggressive line-breaking backrower to come on from the bench?
One of Smith's mates from the Queensland Cup if we're on a budget could fit the bill...

| Going back to wingers. I think there are plenty of good quality domestic options, even at the younger end. If you look at the top top clubs, theyre not using a quota on a winger, with the exception of Miski who would have been cheap at the time and Ikavalu who I think is playing more centre.

In that basis Jason Qareqare could make sense and his brother is at Leeds. He was at Headingley today watching the academy match and with a couple of Leeds lads (although they will all know each other from juniors).

He is one that comes to mind. I wouldn’t be against Hanley either tbh if Leigh don’t want to keep him. More established Yaha seems on the outers at Catalan and would do a job and allow us to focus wage and quota in more high impact areas.

| I’d still be happy with one new first grade quality winger and a really good prop or second row depending on whether Martin stays.
Whoever comes in now has to be better than whoever they’re replacing basically. We also need just a different type of forward, someone who can make most contact metres and make the opposition worry.

| Just look at the back row options Saints have got:
Sironen
Matautia
Knowles
Batchelor
Bell
Whitley
And a few young lads behind them.
Great mix of impact and workrate.
We're miles off that level of depth.
Their prop options aren't bad either....
And look at Wigan's depth in the pack, particularly props.
We're spending up to the cap, but don't really seem to have decent depth anywhere across the squad.

I’d say we have depth in the back row, the issue is that they’re nearly all the same type of high work rate player. Which is then compounded by the lack of true punch in the front row.
