Both brothers were here before Foxy arrived - but it was Fox who gave Alan regular game time.

Always thought Alan was the most underrated (and square headed) scrum half ever

. . . though Sam B may beat him in the big square head department.



Liked both of them though. Think they had a little brother into that round ball malarky.



Whilst Dave was fast he had a reputation, IIRC, of needing a good deal of "sponge" time from the physio's. Especially if it was a tasty, physical game.



Alan would scrap away until the cows came home.



They were as different as chalk and cheese in terms of playing style, game ability and physical appearance. [uBUT[/u two cracking players who I can honestly say I, sadly due to my advancing years

Dave was awesome...now works on the sky production team for the Superleague if i remember right..was famed for his length of the field tries ...running from the left wing he often scored on the right side..running diagonally across the field...his opposite wing was Mick Lamb..another awesome winger..oh well them was the days..

I remember Dave Redfearn scoring a try against Huyton that was out of this world. He collected a pass by the corner flag near his own try line and weaved his way through almost the entire hapless Huyton team before touching down. He must have covered a good 125 yards (in my memory at least).



Back in the 71-72 season he scored 35 tries but so did his opposite winger Mike Lamb. I think that Mike Lamb finished top of the try scorers list as he also bagged one for Yorkshire. Both great - if very different wingers. Mike (Mick) Lamb was a grammar school teacher in Leeds and sadly passed away a few years ago.
