Has any player left since the meeting that you did not already know was leaving? Chances are the main ones that had contracts in the bag were not even at the meeting. Other than the ones that were announced early Im not sure any have left.

100% correct Wigan,Saints, Warrington,Catalans, Huddersfield,Salford,all make losses, they are all bailed out by benefactors, Leeds are probably the one club that make a profit, even then it is probably break even rather than make a profit.

But that's only after 20 years of building towards that. Back in the late 90s, Leeds were in just as much trouble and were helped out by a sugar daddy. Difference being that sugar daddy bailed them out but then ensured that he didn't just keep bankrolling them, instead they used the money and the security to get themselves into a position where they could sustain themselves. Doesn't happen overnight, but it helps to have someone who can help you out so that you can get there eventually.



Exactly the right thing that those teams being bankrolled should be doing. Sadly most of them don't, as they're too focused on short term gains.

Lol Warrington run at a profit our profits fell 500k in 2015 and we still made a profit that year our net worth is 10m Simon morals money has been used not only on players but in creating a sustainable club. Leeds also run a profit as do other clubs



The TV deal is 1.8m a season so it covers the cap so how a club runs it's off the pitch business is a huge factor in sustainability, there are things happening at the hj midweek that the club makes money from as they have the facilities.

Catalans are possibly the richest club in SL. The sponsorship & regional money they get is massive, way in excess of the TV money.

We've had a couple of people suggest the Wasp interest will allow Rugby Union to sneak into the backrooms of Rugby League - what about Leeds Carnegie RU already in bed with Leeds RL - is anyone bleating over that? (and before anyone says Leeds RU is actually called Yorkshire Carnegie - I know, but its a bit like West Yorkshire Sport - its a title that doesnt truly reflect their status)

But Warrington are highly fortunate that they were gifted a stadium at no cost and can run it themselves to make income , no other club have that benifit

Departmente money, French equivalent of council support/Yorkshire Forward, that sort of thing. Mainly was their setup costs but due to the local economy benefits is still ongoing

Don't Catalan also have their own local TV deal?

It's probably EU money like they give to the farmers who are still carrying chickens around in 2CVs.

I can see the point about local economy benefit, as every 2nd weekend a bunch of fans descend, needing to spend money in cafes, bars and hotels.

I wouldn't worry about that when there are league legends like Andy Farrell asset-stripping on a regular basis, and Phil Clarke making money from the Denny Solomona "deal", with him as a director and shareholder of the agency that negotiated the deal. Our own heroes are just as bad.
