Its ok to drop someone in like that for a the odd game at a time, but any long term injury to Brough or Lilley then we are struggling massively. U cant get away with an untried half in this league this season in my opinion

True. Matty Race maybe, Pickersgill could move to 6 and Joe Brown to FB.

Yeh i guess that would be an option, im personally not a fan of weakening a key position to plug a hole else where in the side.

Not in my eyes. Lots of other positions id rather we strengthen 1st.

I think everyone's in the same boat. Very few teams, if any, have such depth they can have decent back ups at HB. Look at York, everyone raving about their recruitment but Morgan Smith sadly suffered an ACL injury and they've had to get a Warrington youngster with a 2 week recall option. Most teams have fragile squads and needing luck with injury.



If it is Harry Smith, I'd imagine Wigan would only release him if he was guaranteed first team rugby, not as a back up. Smith made a fair few appearances for Wigan last year if I remember rightly. Looks like he could be the real deal too. They wouldn't send him out to be a back up to Brough & Lilley.



I've seen Sanderson mentioned on social media. Seems to have a decent try scoring record but we don't need another back surely.

We do need back up in the half backs ideally. There was a rumour it was a prop but we have 4 plus Scurr and Ant Walker might yet sign if the loan goes OK.



Centres look a bit thin with only Evans, Oakes and Hamlett

Centres is an interesting one on paper we have 4 quality centres, Oakes, Evans, Dawson-Jones, and Murphy but all will be playing at the same time.... our 2nd row looks really slow though

Thought Murphy was more of a second row nowadays? As you say those four would all be playing at the same time. Hamlett looked promising. Evans can be injury prone.

It's a tragedy that the poor man reached the point where he wanted to take his own life like that. It's difficult to imagine that you could safely return to playing after breaking all the bones of your face, your legs and your pelvis, but I hope he can find peace and happiness whether that's playing or on the periphery of the sport.

More cover for centre and other back positions by the looks of it.

If the Swinton game is any indication of JK's plans, I think Billy Jowitt will be our cover for the halves. He played in the second half and actually looked quite lively I thought.

Still only very young though but I'd still be giving him plenty of game time. We won't be winning this league so might as well get these youngsters on the pitch now, it will only benefit them in the long run.

Yeah I reckon you're right with Jowitt and Pickersgill providing halves cover. Jowitt looks a useful goal kicker too which is handy.

I really would like us to resist putting Pickersgill at 6. Changing two key positions could disrupt the whole team.



Race was playing very well for the reserves last season and Jowitt looked decent against Swinton. I'd be happy seeing either of those two have a crack.Kear will have to make a decision as looking like Lilley will be out for the cup and opening league game if we lose to Fev.

Looks like he might get a chance against Fev and Sheffield due to Lilley getting a 2 match ban.

Ant Walker signed permanently. Deserved IMO was very impressed with him in the pre-season games considering he's been out for 3 years.



His fitness will come in time, but saying that, I've seen more unfit players than him in previous friendlies.

Agreed showed up well and played as though his carreer was on the line. Such an effort to comeback after ehat hes been through.



Only concern would be thats hes been training for months and still looks extremely heavy. Deffo got alot of work to do conditioning wise. Certainly cank knock his effort though. Should get better the more games he gets under his belt but still lots of hard work required from him.

I see Ben Evans has left Toulouse due to homesickness. Would have liked him back to play with his brother but maybe now we have got Walker we are ok for props.

I’m not sure with Walker still on the unfit side we still only have 6, 5 now England is struggling I’d go for him
