It is not impossible to be hit by a meteorite. Only a dozen or so make it to Earth's surface each day so your odds of being hit are vanishingly small, but not non-existent. A certain Mrs. Hewlett Hodges of Alabama is the only known human to have been struck by a meteorite, although it did go through her house roof and bounced off her radio first.
It is not recorded whether she caught it, or knocked on.

For some reason brought to mind the story of the famous NFL wide receiver who was passing by a skyscraper on fire, and a woman was at a window with her baby. The crowd cheered, and he went on a little celebratory run around holding the baby up, this got the crowd going even louder, until he spiked it . . . |
